I usually tip the standard 15%, more if she's really exceptional. I will tip lower if I feel the service is inadequate.

Is it wrong if I never tip?b1lalWell, considering there is no law, wrong in a legal sense, no. But I would say ethically, it is. It's sort of a common courtesy. Waitress get paid crap wages, and rely on tips for a living. They usually bust their butts to make sure you're attended to. If you want to eat out and not tip the people who serve you, you should stick to fast food.
I only tend to tip when it's socially expected... But, in the UK tipping is not a huge social expectation. I'll be very surprised if somebody fails to mention the 'Tipping Scene' in Reservior Dogs; Mr Pink :)Buttmonkey9000Was very tempted... In fact, that's the scene that inspired this thread. :P
I tip 20% at restaurants. 10% or less if they were horrible. At bars maybe a bit differently. Sorta like a dollar a drink or more if they give some freebies.

And they'd only raise the price of their food to recoup the difference...Or America should raise the legal minimum wage and make employers pay them for doing their job, not the customer.

I tip according to the quality of service. There's a little resentment there though, I think that their bosses should pay their own employees.
I always tip food deliveries and waiters but it t does get annoying when everyone wants a tip. Everyone has a tip jar in Cancun. I went paragliding and no joke the boat handler, the guy that helps you get equipped, the instructorall had tip jars they pass around.
Altho tipping is incorperated into the Bill here in Denmark I still tip, and according to service, OR if someone I am having dinner with is diffecult (have a friend who complains about every little thing she can).
Or if I can see the waitress has a bad day.
I always tip high, just because they don't make that much hourly anyway and they're payment is based on some bunk 'commission' philosophy.

Watch the opening scene of Reservoir Dogs. That should help you decide whether it's right or wrong :)
if you live in the US, then yes its wrong. most waitresses get about 2.50 an hour before tips, so they're relying on that to live on. alot of other countries have the waitresses paycheck worked into the bill so that its not an issue, but the food is more expensive in this case so it evens out. Please Log In to post.
