I'm t hinking of running, or at least jogging, but I think I need to start walking again first. I just walked to the store for a couple of things, and I feel really good. Not tired or out of breath or anything. I have an active job at the library, but it wouldn't hurt to throw in some kind of physical activity on my days off.

Jogging shouldn't take that much out of you. Running just burns me out. :P

Yeah i run, love it too. Basically free and the best cardio you can do. If you don't feel like your in good shape keep up with walking and at certain distances just jog/power walk for 30-60 seconds and keep repeating till you can run that distance you walk. And for shoes if you want new ones go to the running room if there is one near you. They are so knowledgable. When i was there they told me to take off my shoes and walk towards them notcied how i walk and then told me to try a pair and it fit perfect. Also if you worry about blisters they have socks(you can probabley get these in most sports stores) That have two layers so one sticks to the foot and the other layer sticks to the shoe reducing friction.

I like to jog laps around a nearby park but at a certain point I'll switch it up and run then walk. Mix them all together.

I run up and down the bleachers at the stadium at the local high school ten times every other day. I then jump up them four times-twice using quad-based jumps and twice using calf-based jumps.

I walk everywhere; I don't even own a car. :P For places far enough away that I can't walk there, I just take public transit.

I walk quite a bit, and I jog occasionally. I find running counter productive unless your an actual athlete, it can cause more problems than your trying to solve.

I play Football not NFL once in a while and that's enough for me to keep fit. I drink less beer too, that stuff blows you like a ballon.

I walk... but not often enough. Thankfully though, now that I have a girlfriend, we are able to get out more and get involved in more physical activity.

When I got a dog, I began to walk my pup all around, that lead me to running around quite a bit. Running has made me less tired, especially playing baseball.

[QUOTE="Teenaged"]

I used to run track for 6 years.

entropyecho

Why did you stop?

Because I used to go with my sisters. Then they left to study, then many people I knew left, the trainer was replaced for me and I just didnt like it so much anymore. Although I should have kept on for a year more.

I stopped when I was 14, so I should have stayed for another year because then I realised that not going to track was the cause of my huge boredome.... :(

True, although it can depend on how naturally athletic/strong your body is. Personally I've had a lot of problems with joints and my back (100s of dollars on chiropractic) from running on concrete. And I've also got Haglund's deformity on both feet through walking a lot on pavement.

The way to go is to run on grass or sand; both can take more effort, but they result in less and wear and tear on your body over time. A treadmill or a local track might cost you money, but the physical toll is far lesser.

I jog/run with the irritating zeal of an ex-smoker (that's actually what got me through quitting about 6 months back). At the moment, I'm running 50 - 70km a week and am in the best shape I've been in. The biggest problem is weight loss: I'm eating more or less around the clock, and I still can't maintain over 75kg :?

I run a lot since I'm on my school's track team. If you want to get in really good shape, the best way is to do whatever you think you can do, but don't stop when your body starts to hurt, since that is when you start to do actual progress. Many people make the error of stopping when they start to feel tired, and that's actually when you are just starting to get a work-out started. If you do this then after a while you'll be in shape and be able to run for much longer, and you'll probably be faster as well.

Everything physical eventually breaks down your body if you do it regularly, thats part of being a human being.

Running will have the greatest negative impact on your knees, however, but that shouldn't start bothering you until you hit your 40s, but at that age, its downhill oneway or another, so might as well live it up before then.

I'm a SCUBA diver and before I'm old I'll probably also be into skydiving, so yeah, when I'm old, I'll know it, but hey, its worth it.

A few weeks ago I tried jogging again, after taking like 3 years off of physical activity. :P I ended up running a mile in 10 minutes, and it killed me for the rest of the day. I'm soooo out of shape.
