I got a new set of contacts the other day, but they are bugging the hell out of me. I wish I didn't have to wear anything, but I'm like totally blind without them :(

What about you?

My doctor says my vision in both eyes is about 20/200, which means I'm legally blind without correction.

With correction, my eyes are 20/15, so yes, I always wear glasses, and have since I was about 14/15.

Before then my eyesight progressed from excellent to very bad. I suffer from nearsightedness in both eyes and astigmatism in my right eye, which is significantly worse than my left eye.

I wish I had to wear glasses, alas I have near perfect vision...I say this because I love wearing sunglasses, and regular glasses are like sunglasses but you wear them everywhere. Sign me up.

FragStains

Yeah, except when you want to go scuba diving, and now you can't wear glasses, so if you don't have contacts, you're blind.

Or when you're playing any contact sport or paintball or anything that requires a helmet, its very uncomfortable. Or when you wish you had wider vision: Most glasses styles only make a portion of your vision better. My vision isn't corrected in the periphrial area (Sp?).

So, in other words, it sucks.

I use both. Right now I prefer my glasses since there's no need to spend an extra 2 minutes putting on contacts :P

I'm partially blind in my left eye, and I have glasses for it. I'm told it's not necessary for me to use them though, so therefore I don't.

I would love to get that done...BUT (and it's a very big but) I would want to be put completely under. Anything coming near my eyes freaks me the hell out, even the little puff of air to test blood pressure/glaucoma freaks me out.

It IS a bit freaky, but it is over FAST. It's like a minute for each eye. You could probably request to be put under though. Heck, you're advised to keep your eyes closed and rest for a few hours afterwards anyway, so might be more help after the surgery than before.

I get kinda queasy just thinking about it :? I may have to look into it soon, when the procedure first started becoming popular I was worried about side effects later on, but things seem to be stable, I've never heard of any problems with anyone...And I feel like that would be a soft-news field day if there were cases of weirdness later on.

I wear glasses. I'm only very slightly short-sighted.

I stopped wearing them for a while, and then my eyesight got a little worse. So I got some new ones last week, and I've been wearing them all the time because I can really notice the difference now when I take them off now... And I actually like how I look in these new frames, unlike every other pair I've ever had.

I used to wear contacts. In the two years I had them, I never got used to putting them in. It took me about quarter of an hour to get them in every day. In the end I just got fed up with them and gave up. Far too much hassle.

I have had to wear glasses for about 30 years now. I refuse to get contacts - nothing and I mean nothing is going to be put in my eyes.

My son, however hasfantastic vision and notices things far away when others don't, even if they have 20/20.

I wear glasses instead of contacts because I like the way I look with glasses. Anyways, my eyesight is terrible. I remember that biking home from the library at 3 in the morning the other day was the most terrifying experience I've had in a long time. I couldn't tell what the hell was in front of me . . .
