My school banned dodge ball too. The balls were heavy so we had to use foamed frisbees. :(Mr_CumberdaleWe used plastic balls, the ones they sell at wallmart for like 5 cents.

Anything can be classified as human target activity. Â I am talking to you. Uh oh, I targeted you...for conversation!
Ah well, at least whe nthe teachers call on them for an answer, they can say they dont like being targeted
I think that might be taking it a bit too far... Are snowball and water gun fights next to get banned?
That being said, I never liked dodge ball. There was always kids that would catapult them at your head.

Awh, but that game is fun. =(
Kats_RK
It was the only game i liked in school.
It was my favourite, as was badminton. =D
They dumbed dodge-ball when they replaced the balls with foam balls.Â
Now I can't smack my targets in the face as hard!Â
We had a variant called speedball at our school and it was banned outright because a kid broke his wrist and another broke his ankle in the same month.Â
it's understanding that school are starting to ban dodgeball.
what a joke, i loved playing Dogde ball in school....well, at least in the New Hampshire school district. I won't be surprised if this spreads further though. There have been many cases recently of elementary-aged students being suspended for things like Hello Kitty bubble guns among other things. The New Hampshire school district is eliminating "human target activities" and things which promote violence, in this case, dodge ball. Link
Thoughts? Are schools becoming too paranoid?

That's what we used, then they thought we could use volleyballs until some kid broke his thumb. Now dodgeball Fridays have been cancelled forever. They dumbed dodge-ball when they replaced the balls with foam balls.Â

haaa yeah, I remember those days. Â Looking back, I kind of agree now and glad they pulled it. Â We always had this one kid we would love to peg because...well, he was the wimpy, skinny kid with glasses and we were cruel school kids. Â That's how it goes. Â It was pretty hilarious at the time smacking the glasses off his face....not so funny anymore though. Â His parents actually came up one day and talked with all the kids in the class about how we shouldn't beat the piss out of him. Â Then, dodge ball was banned and replaced by a similar game which the objective was to knock down bowling pins on the opposite teams side. Â Needless to say, we still chucked the balls at the kid.
Bottom line, you can learn the world is a cruel place without a game that singles out victims. Â
