In school, do/did you feel that every day is/was the same thing?

To me, every school day is the same old bull crap. Even though I do well in school (due in part because I have some easy special ed classes), I'm usually unhappy and depressed because of some of the work, any presentations or speeches, and, especially, some of the other students there. My social skills are almost pure crap compared to all the other students.

I don't ****ing understand why my social skills are such crap, and that I somehow can't fix the problem. I probably couldn't keep a girlfriend for a full school week. I'm awkward (or feel awkward) a lot. I know that feeling awkward is typical with adolescence, but that doesn't mean it doesn't disrupt my life. It's just the same old BS for five days of the week.

I seriously can't wait to graduate and GTFO of high school.

Does anyone feel the way I do?

I know how you feel, I was worried that I was just a screwed up kid in some ways. But, after everyone graduates high school, things really change. I would recommend focusing on your future and really start getting a head start on your career. It will really give you a whole new focus and outlook on life. All the superficial crap from high school disappears and everything really starts to balance out. You shouldn't worry too much.

I've always felt that way. I quit regular school to do it online because of that, and because the school system is crap and the majority of my peers are complete idiots and a waste of skin, I can only tolerate being paired up with somebody high or drunk in class so many times. I can't give you pointers on how to make it better cause there usually isn't a way to make it better. You just have to ride it out. Do not assume you cannot get or keep a girlfriend because you're awkward. My boyfriend is the king of awkward, but I think it's kind of cute and I'm sure I'm not the only girl who does. So long as you're not rude-awkward or foot-in-mouth awkward I don't think that will impair your ability to keep a girlfriend.

I went to the school up till 1st grade when it closed down, so I was home" schooled" up to 10th, the school reopened and my dad decided to send me back, being out of school for so long I had no interest in going, so he sweetened the deal by getting me off on fri for "shop class", it came to an end my last year though:( So pretty much I worked in his auto repair shop on fridays, learned alot more there than being in school.

I had those classes last year and I was exactly the same. I was depressed the whole year. :( It lowered my self-esteem.

I transfered out and went on to General Ed. I'm not as depressed and I'm doing a lot better. I can't stand those special ed or RSP classes, such a waste of time. All the teacher did was talk and give us the same work every week. I didn't learn a thing! Most of my learning was at home.

I got an invitation to go to this brain thing for people who had a GPA of3.5 (I had 3.8 ) I didn't go because I didn't feel like I earned it.

I find more of a problem is that I have to force myself to go just so they can essentially read the textbook for me. It would be much more efficient if they just told me what to read.

I think you addressed it yourself. Your social skills seem to be hurting your enjoyment at school. I was no popular guy myself but I had a circle of friends I could always find at lunch which was the main social period of the day. I always enjoyed that. Classes were a mixed bag depending on the students but that's how it goes.

You could be my twin! I felt that exact way when I was in High school. Once you graduate and move on to college it gets alot more exciting. You should immediately look for clubs for your interests once you get there. You don't know how many fun friends and great times we had in those clubs.

Yes I did. And people have always asked me, "Do you wish you were still in school?" My answer is still "HELL NO"

Why would I want to go back to a place where my self esteem will get pummeled into the ground again. Now that I am away from that place i am loving life.

You had best check where your loved ones are... call them on the phone and speak to them, that is, if they even get to answer the phone...

I liked high school. The work was easy, I saw all of my friends in one place, I was very involved with some extracurriculars that I loved, etc. I didn't like waking up early and being there for so long, but overall I liked high school. It's way easier than college. I actually really hate college, but oh well. I try not to dwell on it.

To a large extent I was the same way for a long time. I was socially awkward especially in my youth. As the quiet type with an extremely difficult time in normal conversations, literally most of my conversations were planned out beforehand even when my closest friends. Strange was very much a description people would give me.

Thankfully, I eventually gained confidence in myself and embraced my awkwardness. I am indeed socially awkward at times but not in a bad way. So many times since I've said or done socially awkward things followed by people saying, "This is why we love you."

As far as the school work itself goes, I was especially like that from 10th grade and before. Thankfully, as my social confidence grew so did my interest in school/school related activities. These days I love school with a passion (hence a reason I'm working on my Masters). :P
