What I mean by this is that does alien life by definition have to exist, if the Universe is infinite in size and matter, therefore the number of planets is infinite. So going by that logic there would have to be another planet with life on it.

Nope. If there are aliens "out there" it would single-handedly disprove Islam. And since we know that God and the prophet Muhammed gave us 5 pillars of Islam to follow, and 6 things to believe in, there obviously is not any form of life on anywhere else than earth. It's just simply what God in the Quran has stated. It's that simple :) .Revisited

It's sad that some people actually think like that.
The odds of earth being the only planet with life is incredibly low.

I think it may be unlikely that we're alone in the Universe, but it's certainly possible.
So far earth is the only planet in our solar system known to support life. If we were somehow able to prove that we were alone, that life had never existed anywhere ever before, maybe we should consider it our duty to spread life across the galaxy?
[QUOTE="Stevo_the_gamer"]Universe is not infinite; but it is statistically improbable (almost impossible) that Earth is unique. rilpasso what happens when you reach the end of the universe?
science isn't afraid of the answer "We don't know." It could very well be a cosmic soup of bubbles, every bubble being a universe. There's sections of our known universe with lots of gravitational pull from outside the boundaries, thought to be other universes
I'm sure life is out there. The probability of earth being the only planet with life is very slim. Depends on what you're thinking of "life" though. If you're thinking aliens with super high tech gear ready to take over every race in the galaxy then you already know they're here. They're called Humans
I'm sure there is a different life form living off a different life source than us though. I'm sure H2O isn't the only thing out there that can sustain life.
Of course aliens exist.
The pyramids? Built with the help of alien technology. Ancient texts? First-hand accounts of alien encounters. The famed crystal skulls of ancient Mesoamerica? Humans did not have the technology to make those. Puma Punku? The quality of the stonework and the size of the blocks are incredible, and would have required power tools [which did not exist in 10,000 B.C.], so aliens or their technology must have been involved.
The evidence that aliens exist is all around you, you just have to look.

and there was recently a life form found in california I think it was, that was not carbon based. For all we know, there could be life on a planet with 10 Gs, it drinks battery acid and breathes neon gas

It makes you do a double take, but then it's twice as funny. Now with the more lax Terms of Use, everything is so much more in your face.

Is this a fact? How are you so sure that there just aren't any sources of light that far out?The universe is not infinite, if it were, every direction you look would be light, and since there is not light in all directions, the universe is not infinite.

Alien life has already been proven to exist, just not in the way you mean. Tiny "bacteria" have been found on planets, which technically counts, as they are alive. As for something along the lines of does Alien life, on the scale of things such as Mass Effect or Star Wars, have to exist, no. Nothing HAS to exist, there doesn't HAVE to be other planets out there with life similar to ours out there, but I think the chances of Earth been the only planet in existence with this type of life, especially when you think of how many species exist, and how many have existed in the past just on Earth, it's seems more likely that there IS life out there.spike6958
Imagine if there's another Earth-like planet out there right now that's on a dinosaur like stage or something similar:P.
What? Expand on that please. The universe is not infinite, if it were, every direction you look would be light, and since there is not light in all directions, the universe is not infinite.

Also, whether that's disproven or not, it's still carbon based life. No one ever claimed that it replaces CARBON with arsenic. Please Log In to post.
