We have a black president now, why not a black Superman?
There aren't many black superheroes. Most tend to be very minor heroes like Blankman, and Meteor Man.
I think for the next Superman movie, they need to cast an african-american.

Sure, as long as it isn't THAT guy.
Making someone black just so they can say 'oh hes black now' is wrong. Lets say if they were hiring a new superman for the film, just give it to the best actor, regardless of skin colour.
That might sound like a good otherworld comic from DC, however you can't make a Superman movie with a black man because...Superman isn't black! You can't just go changing the basic design of a character, like changing their race. Anyway the point is that you have to follow the original character design if you want to make a story about him, unless that story establishes that it is completly seperate from the exsisting continuity.

"Does America need a Black Superman?"
Now I cant really express why, but that title really sounds strange.
Something about America (a nation, a country) needing something and that being a superhero revamped for... equality? Equality over superheroes? I dont know... sounds bizarre to me.
Spawn is the best superhero ever... and back to the topic: It's thread like this that make me think maybe think Aaron Mcgrudger was right when he said "I just don't want my show to be the closest that some people get to interaction with a black person" lol I'm pretty sure to majority of black people, a black superman/spiderman is pretty low on their list of priorities.Nah, storm is one of the best super heroes already. Green lantern (the black one obv) is also pretty good.
Espada12
There are numerous black heroes.
Luke Cage
Storm
Black Panther
Steel
The JLA cartoon Green Lantern
Cyborg
And so on and so on. I also haven't read it in awhile but wasn't the new doctor strange also black?
Why do people always ignore the best one Spawn? There are numerous black heroes.

Well cause he isn't really a hero lol
Equality isn't making a white superhero black....it's making a black superhero that is iconic.LJS9502_basicWell said.

I know absolutely nothing about the Spawn universe.
However, the fact he is fully clothed and masked (no skin shown) means it's hard to pick out he's black...

Easier said than done.
I don't think DC has ever let any character get remotely near the iconicness of the big 3.
Though you feesibly could make a white super hero black when it comes to heroes that pass down the torch or are part of a large division (green lanterns). But not Superman.

You missed the point.:(in altered universe yes. but as a movie? I have doubts. Its like me asking a movie based of superman: red son. I heard Zachary Levi could pplay as the next Superman and John Nolan(the brother of Chris Nolan) is attached to the project.

Zachary Levi. From Chuck.
This topic is an example as to why I cant stand people talking about racism anymoreSplatterDuckexactly, TC what is your motive behind this Topic?
America needs to stop seeing things in black and white. We just need to see people as humans, as other people.
Diversity as a fetish actually perpetuates racism and keeps instilling racist views onto people. We are humans, not a mixed bag of white, black, asian, hispanic, and whatever in between. As long as we see humans as a mixed bag instead of just people of difficult culture, not of different race, we will always have race problems.
Racism works both ways. In our crazy society instead of making people equal, give certain people bonuses in attempts to make them equal. Thus as long as one person has more rights and bonuses than another of a different race, there will always be racism of some level.
Fetish? I don't know that seeing a difference inherently perpetrates racism as racism is a belief in superiority/inferiority of race. But it does cause us to notice differences....then again that is not always a bad thing. It's only bad if the differences make one judge others based on differences. However....as far as society....you are correct....we need to not make issues based on race etc.America needs to stop seeing things in black and white. We just need to see people as humans, as other people.

Motive? None actually. It was actually just kind of a joke - I mean did you even get the Blankman reference? However I'm glad I started an intelligent debate about this and no I don't think Superman needs to be black. Maybe in 2,000 years when we all form one mongoloid race he'll eventually be hispanic just like Christ today is depicted as a white man.

Actually depending on the specific culture....Jesus has been depicted as almost, if not all, races. Please Log In to post.
