Does anyone actually think Obama will lose re-election?

[QUOTE="DevilMightCry"][QUOTE="Abbeten"] He isn't talking about the weird diehard base. Every president faces those crazy people on the other side who compare him to Hitler and stuff like that. Obama has faced the unique challenge in working with Congressional and Senate Republicans whose stated priority is to deny him a second term. Abbeten
Do you think the stated priority of the Democrat party is to elect a Republican or a Democrat? What do you think?

Not their #1 electoral priority. That's a given. Their #1 general priority. Putting it above economic recovery and, you know, actual governance of a country. To this end they have absolutely shattered the record for filibusters, refusing any sort of compromise whatsoever. But hey, people threw eggs at Bush! He had it just as bad!

I don't think I have ever seen any one state this from either party until now.. These tea partiers need to be thrown out of office.. They are a fvcking plague that is grinding our government to a halt because of their refusal of cooperation, negotiation and compromising.. Things that all REAL politicians must do to get things done on both parts of the isle..

Is that how Democracy works in the Democrat Party? LOL fail.

I know how democracy works in the republican party. Disenfranchising poor voters.

80% of Americans want voter ID laws. Looks like Democracy is on our side.

It's quite possible he will loose. This election is definitely not about who is the better candidate. It's about the lesser of two evils.

If they could put "none of the above" on the ballet it would win by a landslide.

The majority of Americans also want universal healthcare and gay marriage and marijuana to be legal. Funny how that works out. Also I looked up those statistics you mentioned (it's actually 74% but rounding statistics up is always fun) and I got a kick out of how 76% of those who said they will not vote want voter ID laws. I didn't get a kick out of the whole majority of black women wanting it though despite them statistically being the most affected by these laws.

Voting is an inalienable right. Doesn't matter if 99% of people wanted to enact voter I.D, and shorter voting times in heavily democratic precincts, it wouldn't make it right.

There is no right to vote in a Presidential Election. It's not in the constitution.

To be fair he never stated whether or not it was in the Constitution. What a person views as rights does not have to be what the actual legal rights are.

The thing about voting third party is that in the current U.S. politcal system, you're essentially throwing away your vote, or at best making a statement. So even if there's a third party candidate you agree with most overall, if you really don't want to see one of the two main candidates elected then your best bet is to still vote for their opponent.

Thing is, Obama and Romney are so marginally different that it hardly matters. Nothing's getting passed at the moment anywyas

Well, I suppose I can't really argue with that, and more politcal parties would be great. I was just pointing out, as I'm sure you know, that a third-party vote is more a statement or result of exasperation than a real vote.

Hiring someone else just because they're someone else is pretty much the worst reason to hire someone, ever. Romney's and Ryan's current proposals are appalling, yet you're advocating them because they're different?

This is what scares me. The number of people who have this attitude. If you're too lazy or uninterested in politics to actually follow the nominees' policies, please for the love of god don't vote. Vote because you like one of the candidates, not because you've been brainwashed to hate or fear one of them.

Yeah but you have to look at what's being proposed. Honestly I'm not happy with Obama on deficit reduction but the Romney-Ryan deficit reduction proposals just don't make sense.

The whole fvcking election is stupid. Obama is the nominee for Dems because he was president before. Fvck that. Romney is different but is way fvcking worse. Our sh*tty two year election season is fvcking stupid and the citizens party loyalty is just downright retarded. This election has to be the most bullsh*t election ever. When it comes down to choosing our leaders and we are only picking the lesser of two evils, something needs to change.

Seems more like someone saying not to vote because they don't actually know anything about the opposition candidate and would solely vote for him because he's not the incumbent.

Most of you staunch Republicans are racist. Admit it or not you are. No intelligent person could possibly stand behind the modern Republican Party without being racist. Otherwise, if you aren't racist, you are just completely stupid. Wait until the right evolves to support them. The far right puts ALL the money into the Republican Party and the far right is racist. Individual, old, racist white millionaires pour their money into the right wing agenda simply because they are old. They're gonna be dead soon. They want purpose. So they feel preserving the white race is where they should funnel their money into. But they're just hicks. They don't know any better. Republican voters will never acknowledge the fact they are racist but they are. Race has EVERYTHING to do with it.

Some might say that saying someone is wrong and suggesting that they should not vote is better than passing legislation preventing them from voting. Which is, actually, what the GOP has done in multiple states this cycle with multiple laws attempting to prevent people from voting. I'm not saying that a general message of: "You're dumb and your views are stupid. Please don't vote." Is probably not the most fair minded and constructive of viewpoints. But if you think that poster was classless, then how much WORSE is it when the conservative party in the United States isn't just SAYING that, they're actively trying to LEGISLATE that?

Other people doing worse things does not excuse him of saying something classless. We shouldn't be discouraging people from voting. If anything, we need MORE people to vote. I'm absolutely fine with telling him that his rationale for voting is abhorrently lazy and almost criminally stupid though.

Thanks for the laugh.......

What's to laugh about? You think race has absolutely nothing to do with it?

I'm very disappointed with what Obama was able to accomplish in his first term (although some things are not entirely his fault) but on the other hand Romney's campaign seems to be spewing out lie upon lie. Romney hasn't given anybody a reason to vote for him other than "I'm not Obama." His entire campaign is based around those who don't like Obama and not what he wants to accomplish as president, which is pathetic and it's sad that it's actually working to some extent.

[QUOTE="nocoolnamejim"][QUOTE="Mafiree"][QUOTE="nocoolnamejim"] What was classless about the post you're quoting?

Asking someone not participate in an election because of their viewpoints...........

How does that go against my reasoning for calling it classless? The reasoning behind those laws is to effect the same outcome (preventing people with the opposite viewpoint from voting) Both are classless.

Other people doing worse things does not excuse him of saying something classless. We shouldn't be discouraging people from voting. If anything, we need MORE people to vote. I'm absolutely fine with telling him that his rationale for voting is abhorrently lazy and almost criminally stupid though.

Oh I agree. Two wrongs should not make a right. On the other hand, if discouraging people from voting is classless and wrong, then actually actively preventing people from voting is MORE WRONG isn't it? Therefore, logically, if he is going to criticize a post suggesting people shouldn't vote, then he should also be willing to denounce voter suppression efforts on behalf of conservatives... ...yes?

I agree that voter suppression is more wrong than that comment, but that doesn't really have any bearing on what he said. He just said the comment was classless. It was. The scope doesn't really have to get wider than that.

I have no idea what you mean, bro. I don't watch star wars. But I just know there are a lot of rich, white men who have racial bias that are funding the Rwpublican Party. It's a given.

Agreed. This "NOBAMA" Anyone but Obama garbage has to stop. Think about what youre doing. Yeah, Barack Obama did not save America in 4 years, but jesus christ, you think Mitt Romney is going to? Please dont vote. I beg you, just turn in your voting priviledges and go home.

Second time I've heard a person say this to a Romney supporter this week....... You guys are classy.
