[QUOTE="Stranger_4"][QUOTE="Guybrush_3"]Hardly any difference if you rip it to 320 kb\s MP3's.Yup, I like the highest quality songs on my computer. WAV>>>>>MP3
not only that I have a 6 disc CD changer in my car.

I can tell the difference with the headphones I use.
Which headphones and what sound card?I use bose triport with realtek HD and there's really no difference unless I bump the volume uncomfortably high and even then it's just so minor and not even visible in every track.

lol WAV? duud.. if you want the best lossless u need FLAC.. the only use audiophines have for WAV is to convert cd's to WAV and then LAME V0 MP3 .. i suggest you get exact audio copy.. FLAC encoder.. and spend some time on hydrogenaudio forumsWhat are you talking about?Wav is audio CD quality.
are you using itunes 320? or something like that.. if your not using LAME with a program like exact audio copy.. then your mp3's wont sound optimal.. the hardcore audiophiles at hydrogenaudio forums agree that V0 MP3 ( variable 256 kbps ) is transparent, some argue V2 even is.. and agree that 320 even is for the hardcore that just want to know they have high bitrate.. you can use abx tests to see if you really hear the difference or just think you do.nimatoad2000So I am not getting optimal sound using nero 7 ultra edition to convert audio cd's into MP3?

thats right, your not. here i will give you a couple links.
this one is for the lame codec, remember this is from a wiki on hydrogen audio forums, an audiophile forum.
http://wiki.hydrogenaudio.org/index.php?title=LAME
and here for exact audio copy, the ripper of choice
http://wiki.hydrogenaudio.org/index.php?title=Exact_Audio_Copy
used toghether these output the best results, ill also put a screenshot of my encoder page on EAC for example .
EAC is a pretty advanced program with many options, its also not very user friendly when it comes to these options, luckily the wiki post i linked has a link to optimal mp3 options for EAC complete with option by option instructions and screenshots..
a feature i really like is that if a cd is scratched it will continously try to read it, i had a pretty badly scratched cd and even though it took 12 hours to read, it did it and perfectly.. also freeDB will look up complete info including artwork for your cd and add it to id3 tags.
here is SS: disregard the 96 kilobytes under the bitrate, the command line of alt preset takes it over, in this case i used V0 ... aka variable bit rate 256

[QUOTE="Travo_basic"]I enjoy having something physical to look at .DivergeUnifymeh. there should really be more incentives for CDs. You're paying a big premium( sometimes 50 to 100 percent more) just for a physical copy. you should get some more things like commentary from the band members and maybe some other creative stuff( creative, not gimmicky :P) ?what ? all the cds i buy are 9 to 10 dollars. isnt itunes 1 dollar a song ?
Rip to FLAC. Same quality, half the size.Yup, I like the highest quality songs on my computer. WAV>>>>>MP3

Yeah, I like to have the physical thing. I do have an iPod and I listen to it often. It beats carrying CDs and a CD player.tsduv21
You think you've got it bad. I've got to carry this thing around:
I always buy hard copies. I rarely download music.sammyjenkis898Same here. I just like having physical copies. And they are amazing to have a great uncompressed CD for backup and then rip everything in 128 or 160kbps MP3 format for the iPod since I do just have so much music.
