I still buy c.d's and Vinyl's. Support the artist people, dont let music die into a robotic machine. Don't become a singles person Buy albums/c.d's!
Just ordered Slipknot, Iowa, Vol. 3: The Subliminal Messages, and All Hope is Gone by Slipknot on Vinyl. 8)
Im going to get get NGS2 CE, DAO:CE and Demon Souls CE, and maybe the AC2 CE. And all 4 of them contain a soundtrack.
I agree with that. The novelty of having the the album itself is too great.Of course I buy CDs. I feel that certain artists deserve my money because they provide me with enjoyment for their music. Also I like having a physical product as a opposed to some files on a computer. See the overall CD product is great, artwork, linear notes, it all adds up to the album experience, and it is sad that many people are opting out of that.

I buy CDs of people who just come through town and aren't big enough to have it mass published and only when I love an artist and want to support them.
I'm into record collecting, so I buy a lot of records. You'd be surprised how many current alt. rock bands still release their albums on records as well as cds.
I really like to have physical media in addition to the music on my computer. Plus, iTunes is part of an evil corporation that is pushing 'singles' and encouraging people to ignore the rest of an artist's album. Nowadays people don't care about concept albums and the like - they just load up their iPods with singles. How shameful.

very true.
If it's a band I really like, yeah.Crypto138Same here, but once that album is on my Ipod I never lay sight on the CD again lol. I'll probably pick up the new Thrice and Black Dahlia Murder album's on the 15th when they come out.

20 years of CD collecting gets unweildly. I was happy when I finally got everything copied to digital formats so I could throw that crap out. I only buy digital downloads now. They're so neat and tidy, and stay so well organized.
Unlike the boxes upon boxes of CDs that used to haunt my closet space. Try finding a single song on a single CD when you aren't even sure which box it's in.
I always download first. If I like it, I buy it. If I don't like it, it gets deleted. Considering the amount of money I spend on music, I like to play it safe and not risk buying something I'm going to hate. For example...I loved the last PJ Harvey single, and was totally stoked for the cd. When I get the cd, I hated it (minus the song). What a waste of money.
It's pretty obvious to anybody who frequents their local music store.I buy CDs of people who just come through town and aren't big enough to have it mass published and only when I love an artist and want to support them.

If I really love a band I will buy a few of their studio records. Or if I am a fan of a band I will definitely purchase their next album when it comes out on CD. However, If I wanted to try a band out and see if I like it, I do not spend my hard earned cash, I download. If that bands is good enough (to me) than I will see them in concert + purchase their next album. It's ethical for me at least. I simply could not have as broad a taste in music as I do now, without having downloaded a lot of my music to get me interested in a band.
If I can't find a digital, lossless copy of an album online: yes, I'll buy the CD for it.
Keeping lossless is actually not an issue of sound quality for me...I just like to have exact copies of my audio tracks, as I'm not interested in having to transcode from lossy formats. My lossless collection is still a bit small at 3,200 tracks (92GB), but I add a few albums per month.
Also seems a bit stupid to have to pay the same price for a lossy copy of a track.
[QUOTE="jer_1"]Lossless ripping is quite awesome, but if someone only gets the digital version, and their hard-drive cops out, they have to get those files back again. Besides, physical copies are just too awesome(and burning music onto blank CDs is pretty ineffective for long-term storage...they don't have the best lifespans compared to pro-grade discs) Then you should buy good disks or just do the obvious for critical data HDDs and RAID1 a pair... I prefer physical CDs for my favourite tunes though i'm not so bothered about general musicI still buy CD's yes, however I always copy them immediately to my hard drive so they are a bit more permanent. I disagree with those who say that digital copies aren't as good as a CD, that makes about no sense. I'm sure you've heard of lossless audio ripping by now?
