Does Gamespot deserve a Webby?

So I see in almost everyone's sig to 'Vote for Gamespot in the Webby's' but then I ask myself,

"Do they really deserve one?"

And they say,

"Well, you get an emblem when you do it,"

But then I think,

"Yeah, but is it worth it, voting for them not on merit but just to get an emblem? Sounds like bribery."

I mean, if I'm going to vote, I want to vote for the right reasons, not the wrong ones.

So, my question is, does Gamespot deserve a Webby or not and why do you believe what you do?

What will your voting on it improve for GS overall?

I don't mind GS-an interesting place I visit, (I don't think I have any vote though as a non-paying member) but isn't making it more famous going to make it slightly more un-managable? If the Webby for GS is going to improve the service to you in GS, then yeah-give it to them. If it's just going to be some trophy none here gets anything to show for beyond the emblem, well... you all make up GameSpot in the first place.

Not until I stop seeing console screenshots in the PC section.

Not until reviews, previews and news for one console is re-written for the proper platform (too many time I see them talk about controls and I'm reading the Pc review).

Basically, not until Gamespot get's it's **** together.

The only thing going for this place are the users, and the mods/admins keep banning all the long time users.

I'm not too familiar with the other nominees, but from my experience Gamespot does not deserve any award, not now. If it was two or thee years ago I'd be the first to vote. As it stands now I can only hope for all their gaming journalism (if you can call it that) section to shut down and become a community centered site.Neon-Tiger

Agreed on all accounts. If it wasn't for the active forums, then I wouldn't even be here.

A couple years ago, I used to believe GameSpot was the authority on game reviews....and the best gaming podcast on the internets. But now I no longer respect GameSpot's opinion on games and I rarely remember to listen to their podcast.

For me it's about the forum community. I don't bother with the game reviews or site features anymore.

We are the people of Gamespot. It's like a canidate not voting for themselves, would be plain stupidity.

Well I think they don't really deserve an award this year because GS is not as awesome as it was back in 2007...
