Yes it does. I recently researched my family history. Specifically Clan Lamont and the Maronites and well yes I must say history repeats itself.
Yup. Basically evil powers rise, America kicks their ass. Repeat.
Us Canadians just stand on the sidelines like the parents "No matter what happens, Canada still loves BOTH of you!!"

By that logic communism isn't evil, which is hard to believe.
Maybe just not evil to Canadians eyes.
Also, yes. History does repeat itself. I'd like to draw everyone's attention to the Lincoln/JFK coincidences.
pengo93
Yeah good examples.

Then why did Americans rise up against them? If communism isn't evil then Americans invaded for nought, making them the evil ones, hence, America must rise up against itself. But, seeing as communism is most likely evil, but was not defeated, then this argument is flawed.
I dunno, I just like to find contradictions.

What makes you think it isn't evil though? That is what I don't understand. The US and its ideals have always been with and were founded on good intentions.

Good intentions often lead to bad results. But seeing as communism is almost certainly evil, then that just makes the earlier statement regarding "ass kicking" false. Communism's gluteus maximus remains unscathed from any boot, sandal, sneaker, jogger or metatarsal.

I don't know if communism was intended to be evil, but it did cause evil and was clearly inferior to Capitalism. IE the Russian Economy collapsed in the arms race while the Capatilist US economy only grew.

Holy **** man, it was a joke, at what point did I say "Hey, I want to start a political debate?" Seriously...More or less, yeah.
One of the most egregious forms of history repeating itself, in my view, is the transition from Judaism to Christianity to modern Christianity. About when Jesus arrived on the scene, Judaism was basically structured with the masses on one side and the religious leaders on the other, and the former more or less were supposed to just listen to the latter and go with it, and there was a ****load of rules and so forth, too. People were kind of starting to get the sense that maybe this is BS, so along comes this Jew named Jesus and he pretty much says, "Yeah, you know all that stuff in our holy scriptures? It's basically just telling us we should love people." (and yes, he totally did say this, it's right there in Matthew 7:12). And people were like, "Hey, this guy's pretty awesome," and the very first Christian churches weren't even churches at all, people just got together and worshipped God as equals, learning from one another.
Fast forward 2000 years into the future, and Christians are still worshipping God together in a group as equals, learning from one another. Oh, wait, no, actually, they've got the masses on one side and the religious leaders on the other, and the former more or less are supposed to just listen to the latter and go with it, and there's a ****load of rules and so forth, too.
So yeah, humans pretty much suck at learning from history. :P

Of course it does. Times were hard during the early 80's. Times are hard for many now. At least I learned my lesson from the first time and wasn't affected that hard this time around.

no...I dont think it does...
