OT, does your girlfriend say "I love you too" or "I love you" back to you everytime you say it? I'm just wondering if it's normal or not if a girl doesn't, even thuogh she does on occasion.

barely ever...all my gf does is smile and blush a bit.
How often do you say it to her? Maybe just too much?
Once every 24-48hours, depending on my mood and hers. Sometimes I text it when she's in the middle of something. This makes me feel a lot better though. :P How many times do you say it?barely ever...all my gf does is smile and blush a bit.

Maybe she only loves you on occasion?Jazz_Fan
Then that isn't love.

[QUOTE="th3warr1or"]Then that isn't love.Jazz_FanYes it is, that is like saying having part-time job isn't a real job. You don't stop loving a person randomly though. If you actually LOVE someone, you don't wake up tomorrow and don't love that same person for no reason.

Loving and being happy with are two different things. You might not be happy with someone/thing but loving them enables you to talk about it and get past it. I bet you keep on loving your dog...even after it pees on the carpet or whatever :P
You'd do better to show her you love her instead of saying it every day. It really gets annoying to some people and it could be seen as you being insecure.
If I love someone, I don't need to tell them everyday and if I do, that's a problem. It may seem cliche, but in this case action does speak louder than words.
Well there are times like when I'm on a vacation or we're apart and I can't really "show" her I love her. She knows I do though. You'd do better to show her you love her instead of saying it every day. It really gets annoying to some people and it could be seen as you being insecure.

Well there are times like when I'm on a vacation or we're apart and I can't really "show" her I love her. She knows I do though. Next time shes away from you do something for her. I make my girlfriend little powerpoints now and then to make her smile and know I'm thinking about her while she's away. I'd just stay away from 'I Love You' every single day. I'm sure she knows that you do. And don't worry if she doesn't say it back, you should already know if she truly does.Next time shes away from you do something for her. Is this advice strictly for newer relationships?

Define 'newer'. We've been together for about 8 months now. All I know is that it seems to work with us, it certainly may not for everybody though.[QUOTE="heretrix"]Well there are times like when I'm on a vacation or we're apart and I can't really "show" her I love her. She knows I do though. That's the thing. If your actions normally show that you love her you don't have to worry about when you aren't together. She will already know and she will miss you. It's all about how you treat her normally. If she sees that you respect her and whenever you are together you make those moments count, you don't ever have to worry about anything. Saying you love someone every day is pretty much unnecessary if you have that covered. You'd do better to show her you love her instead of saying it every day. Then again, there are times when it doesn't matter what you do, it's all for nothing because the love just isn't there. In those situations you have to know when to let go. It doesn't matter what you do, if a person doesn't care for you, you are just wasting your time. Being clingy is just going to make it worse.

But the second half of what you just said is probably the jist of it- not all relationships are the same and it's as simple as that.

i will have to have been with the girl for awhile before i say it. too many people start saying "i love you" right after they first get together, and it's stupid cause do they really love them? probably not.
she used to say that very often or everytime i say i love you. but now she rarely say that. everytime i say i love you she just reply "thanks"
she says it to me all the time I do anything remotely nice... I don't say it back because if I do, she'll tackle me and I hate hugs and affection.
[QUOTE="AtlanticRock"]Whaaaa...?she'll tackle me and I hate hugs and affection.

it's annoying, especially she'll try to do such things when I'm watching a movie or playing games and I try to brush her off gently - but then it turns into an argument about how I don't accept her love blah blah blah

But why wouldn't you want her to be hugging you during a movie. That's like.. awesome. :shock:the recent movie I was watching was Under The Red Hood, and I'm a comic freak so I'm trying to see if the movie stays true to the books and what changes were made. She's all up on me talking and asking me questions... long story short I had to watch the movie again on wednesday like 4am while she was sleeping to enjoy it. I can take any other movie with her but when it comes to anime or comedies, she's terrible to watch with.
