Does your name transcend your avatar?

Do you think that your forum name transcends the recognition of your avatar? Sometimes I get the feeling that if I changed my avatar no one around here would recognize me anymore. So, what do you think. If you change your avatar/sig would people just think you were a completely new person... or do enough people actually know your name that you wouldn't be completely forgotten?

When I change my avatar, I sometimes forget who I am and I look at a new post and for a second I think "Wow, who the **** is that guy?" and then I remember who I am and I weep a little.Dracargen

Lmao. I tend to remember people more throguh sigs that avies. Because alot of people have the same avies.

krazy... you're totally right. I've never associated your username with your avatar/sig. I always think of you as the purple hippo.

Personally, I remember most posters based on their avatars. Rather than by SN.

I've gone through the people that have posted and only recognized Bio_Spark and LJ, but not really, if that says anything. I think the only avatars I recognized that weren't those two were the Communist Colonel and the Skillet guy.

I have trouble recognizing which postsf are mine when I change my avatar. Thankfully, I think this avatar is awesome enough to be my avatar on here for the rest of my forum life :) This avatar gets me more recognition than all of my posts combined.MetroidPrimePwn

I regonize alot of ppl by their usernames.

I don't think ppl reconize my name though and I change my avatar all the time...
