Because it seems to me the ratio of dog murders to human murders is slightly less.

Because a dog is only as good as its owner. A well-trained dog wouldn't do this.
This. And also: Wtf are you letting your baby be near a dog that's leg is probably bigger than the baby? The dog doesn't know better, and blaming it is about as stupid as letting a baby play with such a big dog. Always comes back to be the human's fault :/[QUOTE="Bucked20"]

Any dog will do this is the baby if grabbing at the dogs fur. Doesnt make it a bad dog. This is why they advise people to research dog breeds and their compatibility with children. Not every breed is ideal to have around small children due to both size and temperament.
This is exactly right. Getting angry at an entire animal species because one incident is questionable logic as well. This is why they advise people to research dog species and their compatibility with children. Not every species is ideal to have around small children due to both size and temperament.

Doesnt make it a bad dog.Yeah, I didn't read the article but I figured the kid was doing something that made the dog angry, my guess was getting too close to its food. Bottom line is you shouldn't just leave an infant like that alone with a dog. Even with a small dog kids can do things to anger it without realizing it and you either have to be right there to stop the infant or you have to keep the infant away in the first place. It's the parents' fault, not the dog's.
Yea, there was a infant in my city a while back who was killed by his family's pitbull, the dog was out down.
Regardless of whether the dog was trained or not......look at the f*cking size difference! It wouldn't have to really get aggressive to hurt a baby.
So yeah, allowing their baby to crawl over to the dog unattended was a pretty stupid thing to do. Though of course it's still quite sad what happened, but it's something that could've been easily avoided.

I'm not that good with nicknames, but I believe Bucked20 trolling strategy is behaving like an annoying black stereotype for lulz. You just need to read some of his previous posts. Chances are he's not actually black, you know.
This thread is a lie because it's not a pitbull, buh buh but only pitbulls attack people.
Tragic but a baby shouldnt be left alone with any dog.Big_Bad_SadI agree, no matter how well trained. We never leave my brothers daughter with our dog alone, always have a watchful eye especially with a powerful breed.

Yeah, article said they were going to put it down. Funny, we put down dogs who act on their instincts, but what do we do to the parents who left a toddler alone with a, what was it, hundred and some odd pound dog?
It pisses me off that they always rush to put dogs down after a dog does something we don't appreciate. Not every dog attack is unjustified or incomprehensible. A lot of the time it boils down to poor training or poor choices on the human's part, and that is certainly not the dog's fault.
While this situation is sad and I'm sure it was horrifying to witness, there was no good reason to leave an unsupervised infant with such a large dog...or any dog, for that matter. Anything could happen, and it did. Completely blaming (and ultimately sentencing to death) the dog, whose intelligence is lesser than ours (though now I question the parents' intelligence in this story...) and whose guidance comes from its humans, is misguided in my opinion.

Welcome to Earth. :PThe dog was just being a dog, although I'd imagine if one - even one you own - killed your baby, you'd want it put down. I don't think it's cruel either: what would happen if the dog wasn't put down? Probably be put in a cage with little exercise and a loud environment because of other dogs for the rest of its life.
I think the parents have been punished enough just for losing their baby, that's a hell of a lot more painful than a life time in prison so the punishement would be pointless.

Welcome to Earth. :PWe must kill the dog, it's the only way he'll learn.

I guess I could see not wanting to keep living with the animal that killed my dog (though again, more of the parents' fault than the dog's. I'd compare it to driving a car that you killed your kid in because they weren't fastened in properly or something). Still, adoption is an alternative. As for the rest, the cages and stuff, that's just an indication of how effed up the manner in which we treat our pets is. In a better world we'd have a lower pet population and the ones we do have would be in loving homes or decent temporary shelters.
