Don't we all make light of rape a little too much?

I for one thinks its funny how we all use the verb rape to mean to best something but isn't it in bad taste?

I mean its really widespread on the internet now to say A rapes B but should we stop using it? I mean rape is a pretty disgusting thing and we're using it to say things like "Carl's Jr rapes McDonalds sideways".

I take rape lightly, it does take more then one meaning these days though.

It's pretty much slang now, and has been desensitized. Much like gay and many swear words.

It's not really a problem unless it's used distastefully.

I think alot of people that use it, really dont know the full extinct of the word...rape. It happens to people every day and could seriously happen to urself or someone in ur family so its really not all that funny.

You have to distinguish between the word and the crime. I take the word lightly because I take all words that way...they're only words, and they should be used when they apply. If something was raped, say so, even if it's in an hyperbolic way. The crime, though, I do not take lightly, nor do I appreciate it when people imply or assume that only men can be rapists.

Couldn't you say the same about terms like "kill" and "murders"? Such and such kills the competition, etc.

Right :P Getting a bit mixed up tonight.

I look at the verb and actual Rape differently. When i here that someone is actually raped I feel Horrified. However when the verb is used I Don't take the statement as serious and understand "its a figure of speech".

no no if you ask a woman who was raped what it was like I am quite sure she will describe it like being shot in the face in Halo by some guy with a rocket launcher. Otherwise why would people say that?

i hate theslang word for cigarettejust because it is a term that is overused as an "insult" and the true meaning of it was raped -_- but i rarely ever any thing was/has/or is being raped

I've recently been using the term "ShamWow!" as a verb instead of "rape" :P
