Seriously, I can't understand why he keeps doing it! I'd want to quit after just one or two. :|

Good point. I would have kicked Scully to the curb a long time ago.About as tired as Mulder was seeing that UFO and Scully not believing him for what, 7 years?

I don't watch the show. But does Bauer ever just nod off on accident or start whining. They should have an episode where he says, "Screw you guys! I'm going home!"Seriously, I can't understand why he keeps doing it! I'd want to quit after just one or two. :|

I'm pretty sure secret agents don't work on shifts. They know they're working all the time when they apply for the job.
Not just 24 hours, but 24 hours without food or bathroom breaks. :o

Maybe he is a robot... I can't go without food or going to the bathroom. It's not natural.
He's loyal to the mission. He'll do whatever it takes. He doesn't mind risking his life. What he does mind is risking the life of others and Renee Walker pushed his limitations in tonight's episode. It was a really good episode though.Genetic_Code

I lold soo hard when I reread itAs much as I love 24 and Jack Bauer I want this to be it for Jack I think 24 could live on with someone else but its starting to lose its luster and draw as its harder each time to believe that Jack is always placed in these ****ty situations.
But at least so far this season has been entertaining and Walker is great playing the damaged character she has become.
since it's all happening in real time he could be taking then during the scenes with other ppl. after all who needs to see eating and bathroom breaks in real time? please don't answer that. Not just 24 hours, but 24 hours without food or bathroom breaks. :o

He's a well trained ex solider. He's doesn't stop until he gets things done. I'm pretty sure some of our military troops out in Iraq have had many times where they didn't sleep for more than 24 hours. i love the show BTW.
nah.. it's only 1 24 hour shift every once in a while. it's not like it's every daycomp_atkinsYeah, once when getting some software ready for a press tour, I worked a 32 hour shift; took the rest of the week off and was totally fine by the following week

everybody can go 24 hrs(and a lot more, btw) without sleep, especially when you're busy(and yes w/o almost any bathroom breaks or food). there's no training for it.He's a well trained ex solider. This show has been stretched out for like 10 years throughout the series. He's only had eight 24 hour shifts...

I really thought this opening has been pretty weak so far; it feels like they are squeezing out a lot of actual excitement in favor of Katee Sackhoff's "exciting" battered wife white trash secret history, as well as treating Jack as a cast member more than as the lead, which in turn makes it feel like they are trying to ease him out the door so that the series could conceivably continue without him. And back to Katee Sackhoff for a second, once again, CTU shows its amazing background checking skills by failing to notice that they hired someone who apparently didn't exist a few years earlier... again :P[QUOTE="immortality20"]I wanted to talk about tonight's episode so I tried to link it with the thread. Last night'sepisode was great. I love Renee's new attitude it's giving a really different spin on things. For once Jack's not the one who's dancing on the fine line.

Well you're taking my statement the wrong way without understanding what was meant. Ofcouse anyone can stay up for 24 hours without sleeping, but have you had to stay up for 24 hours while being involved in shoot outs, car chases, chasing after people, explosions, being held captive and beaten , running back and fourth from point a to point b just go back to point a, and talking to idiots all day trying to convince them about certain situations? I'm pretty sure your average person including myself would be exhausted and want to quit within the first 2-3 hours.

Wouldn't that come into hand considering a regular person most likely has never had such training? I went through a day that was crazy and it was VERY physically and mentally demanding and by the 27th hour I was completely knocked out for 2 days and what I went through probably doesn't even scratch what Jack is going through in his day. Maybe I'm wrong you claim to be military if so I'd imagine you'd have more experience with this than I do.
It would be cool if someone kill him instead plant a bomb or kidnap someone in the first hour.Seriously, I can't understand why he keeps doing it! I'd want to quit after just one or two. :|

Soldiers are trained to ready themselves to states of effort and lack of sleep-so that it wouldn't shock them or hinder them, when situations do arrive. and it is a part of training(we call them "white nights"-I remeber in basic training they once made us take simple tests(math memory etc.) all night long, after a day of work, and continued to work(ie training) for 48 hours) but it doesn't help much-it doesn't become less difficult, you're just not overwhelmed by it .but i bet a motivated individual would do just fine. however-being in better shape does help A LOT with staying alert. Please Log In to post.
