I wish there was a country that all atheist could go to. it would be surely more peaceful/ im tired of turning on the news and hearing the hate that each relegion have for each other. For ex. sarah palin doesnt want muslims to build a "mosque" next to the 911 grounds and everytime i watch the othertv channels or the news they are always arguing about which relegion is right bla bla bla. im tired of these fights. if it was an atheist country we would be solving much bigger problems other than the fact that someone doesnt have thesame belief as you. and dont forget about those relegiouse cocoos who do and say astrociouse things in the name of their relegion. for ex. people saying that gays should be killed just because they like thesame sex. and because it was in the bible. i see more hate than love in most relegions honestly.

There have been a lot of atheist countries and guess what? They weren't peaceful. Just ask Josef Stalin's 20 million victims or Mao ZeDong's 60 million victims.

Saying only religion is not peaceful isn't just a lie, but outright mean.

I would not be interested in living there even though I am atheist. I like variety even if I don't always agree with many people's religious views. Makes life more interesting.

Yeah, then I wouldn't have to deal with any of them. EDIT: Or just the agressive anti-religion ones.

And if you think a total Atheist country would be peaceful...religous or not, someone always wants power.

They were communist countries. The Chinese worshiped Mao as a god. Same with North Korea. I'm not quite sure about Stalin, though.

This is why I like American we might not like it but its allowed. If I saw anti-gay protesters and if I was gay I would make out with my life partner in front of them. If I knew an extremely racist person in my town I would buy the road they liveon and name it after a famous African America.

Nah, I like diversity, even if it causes problems. Besides, atheists can be just as stupid, corrupt, or generally evil as the religious.

If they don't care about religion, then why are they willing to pay 12 million euros to have the pope come to the country and wave his hand?

Atheist = labeled

Religion = labeled

Wouldn't make a difference. A lot of them would probably be close-minded.

The UK is "spiritual," which nowadays is a fancy way of saying they believe in God but don't do anything about it.

Agreed...Hey OP, read some history, The Soviet Union was ran by atheists, and anyone who didn't comply to their beleifs were punished by jailing, re-education camps, and in some cases, death. And about the mosque, I am compeltely fine with the free practice of religion, but there is TONS of other places to build a mousqe other than the site were Islamic extremeists killed 2,995 innocent people in the name of their god. It's like christians bombing and killing thousands of muslims and building a church near the site. But you beleive what you want to beleive.

No, I think this kind of thinking is short sighted. When you start to think this way, you're really no different than religion, or other groups of people who think by seclusion they will be better off. IT's necessary to surround yourself with forces and pressures that require you to do more than simply exist. If you surround yourself with like minded people, I think things would become dreadfully unbearable. I prefer to be around people who can't tolerate me.

Stalin already tried.

At the time Stalin tried to take the office of head of state, the Russians thought the head of state had to be close to god. Though, at the time the head of the church in Russia was a tyrant. In order to distance himself from the church, Stalin initially took an anti-religious stance. Once he gained complete control, he revived the Russian Orthodox Church in order to intensify patriotic support.

So, no. He didn't really try.
