Probably not but ok.

No way. The show has a lot of great moments and is very memorable.... BUT MY GOD.. The amount of time it takes to get places is disgusting... like honestly at times it's torture.. absolute torture to watch some of the episodes. Watching the last half of season 3 was one of the most painful things ive ever done. about 6 hours of the same 20 seconds of events being repeated over and over again.

Watch DBZ Kai it takes out all the filler things actually progressed at a nice pace
Nothing seems to come close to it in terms of bad*** action interwoven with a story that was simple enough to not have loads of plotholes (that is until late late in the series around Buu) and yet complex enough to have quite a bit of character growth.
That being said there are plenty of other animes that have stories that are far more deep, complex, and thought provoking than DBZ ever provided.
Watched and read alot of anime and I agree DBZ was awesome. However, I do find myself enjoying Naruto Shippuden. Both have their time and nothing can replace DBZ but Naruto can hold its own against all of the current anime out there!

[QUOTE="slipknot0129"]Not sure if serious. DBZ is widely agreed to have been a rather mediocre show. People loved it because they were children (and as we all know, children have no taste), but like all shonen it's bogged down by filler and lazy writing. If you think it's the best anime, you're either still in a phase where you need "ULTIMATE BAD GUY FIGHTS ULTIMATE GOOD GUY IN ULTIMATE BATTLE OF EPIC" in order to be entertained, or your anime viewing experience can be summed up as "Dragonball, DBZ, DBGT, Naruto, Yu Yu Hakusho, and One Piece".[QUOTE="gameguy6700"]I really hope you're trolling...gameguy6700
Hey Naruto and One Piece (can't speak for the rest because I never really watched too much of them) do have under lying themes to them that are important to look at aside from the bad vs good...I can understand why everyone hates on naruto because of how annoying it was early on but I've always wondered why they hate one piece so much =/
DBZ is usually someones entry point into anime, I for example had never watched anime at all until DBZ( I watched the wonderfully brutal and unsensored japanese version :)) I wouldn't call it the best probably the most ifluencial though.
musalala
I guess if you put it that way it was my "entry point" as well, but what really got me into it was things like FLCL and the other animes they had on adult swim oh so long ago.
I wouldn't compare Cowboy Bebop with DBZ like everyone else is because they are severing for different purpose. As for 50+ episode anime, DBZ is pretty damn good, at least back in its days. But hunterXhunter is without a doubt my favourite.hoplayletsplayYeah Hunter X Hunter's good. One of my favorites.

I like Dragonball Z but I don't see it as best ever. I've watched some anime I would consider better personally.

I like DBZ, but honestly it hasn't exactly aged well. Of course I think it shows since susposedly, Akira Toriyama actually wanted to end the series at the Frieza saga.
It would have been appropriate for sure though I feel they wasted potential with gohan and vegeta if they did. and the awesome legacy of trunks special was awesome.
Vegeta spent the greater part of the series b***ing anyway, so I don't think we would have missed out on much. Gohan though got some great development during the Cell saga and History of Trunks was a great special. So yeah, the series should have ended at the Cell Saga. Buu was just a big damn repeat of Cell.

One piece is far superior to DBZ in terms of story...Please Log In to post.
