I like it a lot, but I do not think I have found an absolute favorite or best.

The series should've ended like it was supposed to with The Cell Saga, but the Buu Saga ruined everything...

I'm pretty sure it was actually supposed to end with the Frieza saga, which would've made the most sense, but high demand and good ratings obviously made them keep going.

It was probably suppose to end on the Frieza Saga, but that would have left alot of things unsettled. I think it should have ended with the cell saga. It wrapped everything up so nicely ... Buu really did ruin it though, although I'm sure thats why they made it.If Naruto and Death Note are the only other animes you've ever seen, maybe.
Watch Cowboy Bebop, Neon Genesis Evangelion, Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex, Outlaw Star or Zone of the Enders: Dolores, i and try again.
thank you you saved me some typing cause thats pretty much what I would have said. in my opinion though from what Ive seen wolfs rain is my favorite that and gankutsuou the count of Monte Cristo I kinda stay away from action anime, they have weak story and annoying dialog although I can stand some and yu yu hakusho is my favorite oneLike most americans I was introduced to anime through DBZ, so I respect it for what it's done... but after watching other animes it's only slightly above average. (I seen the whole series back in 97 when I was 12 when anime was available at little stores around the city on VHS spent my afternoons after school watching DBZ before it got big on Toonami a couple years later)
It is the Grand Daddy of anime though, so it should be respected.
I love Yu Yu Hakusho much more(had a 10x better ending) and Cowboy Bebop. I wouldn't say they are the best animes since there's so much new anime out nowadays it's hard to keep up.

Dito. it was teh **** back in teh day but they is so muc hbetter out there. like Cowboy bebob, outlaw star, blue gender, ghost in the shell.
It's not the best, nothing is the best, lot's of other animes are better. But DBZ is the Granddaddy of all anime, if it wasn't for it most anime wouldn't be here today. You may not like it but you have to respect the Elder. :P
To me yes. It is THE first anime that I have ever watched and I love it. I recently just got the 9th season on DVD so now I have the whole series on DVD :D
[QUOTE="October_Tide"]Or the classic 10 minute stare down before actually getting into the fight. lol I swear, time in DBZ is truly screwed up. 5 minutes in the anime equals 40 in real life. They say a bomb about to go off in less then 3 minutes, but it takes the entire episode to truly go off..... That type of thing happens in TONS of movies.Um how about no? Why would I want to watch someone powering up for 10 episodes and then have 1 minute of badly done fighting?

Ummm no?
Though this is my opioion, I belive dragonball z is the father of anime in that retrospect the best. Many people wont agree or wont even recongnize it but if it wasn't for this anime I wouldn't be introduced to the anime I am watching now.. I owe alot to this anime and others do aswell. This was the anime that took the bottle cap off and exposed us westerners the joys of it, well atleast in my point of view. There is always gonna be someone who goes against your way of thinking even if sometimes (you really are right.) I may be alone in this but I don't think there has been any anime that has reach the success and fanbase and growth in anime as a whole in general as dbz did other then pokemon.
Sure there is good animes such as, cowboybebop,Samaurai champloo, bleach, naruto, trigun, rurouni kenshin, etc. But dbz put I think dbz actually put the "A" in animation aka anime. There are others who are gonna dispute this to no ends which is understandable but when dbz came out you just knew the history of anime will change forever... and I haven't seen a anime like dbz that just took what you knew and slung it around to a all new lvl in anime.
Far from it. Convoluted story that doesn't make to much sense (those fillers and 12 movies don't help to much also). Well it isn't as bad as Dragon Ball GT. IMO Dragon Ball is the best in the series. DBZ can't match up to Full Metal Alchemist, Monster, Wolf Rain, Ghost in the Shell, Death Note, Cowboy Bebop, Rahxephon and so many others in my opinion of course.
Umm I think you mean Osamu tezuka's Astro Boy and his other worksbeing the granddady of anime. If it wasn't for Tezuka impact in the late 40's a lot of animes today wouldn't exists. It's not the best, nothing is the best, lot's of other animes are better. But DBZ is the Granddaddy of all anime, if it wasn't for it most anime wouldn't be here today. You may not like it but you have to respect the Elder. :P

Oh man you couldn't be more right. I can't wait for SyFy to start airing it in English in October. Not even remotely close.
This would be it.

I really disliked that show. the art direction was my big issue. Hell I'm having a hard time going through Chrono Trigger because of it.
im really suprised DBZ got that many yes'/ but cmon seriously theres Ghost in the Shell, Elfen Lied, Cowboy Bebop, Gantz, Samurai Champloo, all those are way better than DBZ
Elfen Lied is only 13 episodes... Granted those were amazing 13 episodes, I don't think thats enough.im really suprised DBZ got that many yes'/ but cmon seriously theres Ghost in the Shell, Elfen Lied, Cowboy Bebop, Gantz, Samurai Champloo, all those are way better than DBZ
