First of all, PANTERA is REAL metal.

If a song is REALLY hard in a video game, it must mean its REALLY hard to play in real life right?

Dragonforce can't even play their OWN songs live, because its too fast, their used to having a computer program clean up their messy playing and speed it up. PROOF: http://youtube.com/watch?v=bblDQiGAni8

Heres the super intense intro riff from Fire and Flames:

6-6-6-6-6-6-8-6-6-6-6-6-6-8-6-8

If you've played guitar before, that is pretty ****ing easy. And before you come running in here waving your arms telling me to take a music theory **** I'VE BEEN PLAYING FOR 10 YEARS. I know there stuff is anything but innovative.

So what it comes down to is that, like them or not, Herman Li is a horrible guitarist, All of there songs sound the same, they cant even play at the tempo they recorded with LIVE, theres not a single live video of them playing some song CLEANLY, and they are anything but technical.

-

With that knowledge, people, do yourself a favor and listen to some REAL technical stuff, you know, like Metallica? Or some REAL innovative stuff like Pantera or Van Halen.

Agreed. Ive been playing real guitar for about 3 years and dragonforce are disgraceful. Power metal died in the 80's and should have stayed that way. But these idiots are bringing it back. Everyone likes them because threy think they can play so well. Dave mustaine would own sam tottman and herman li with his hands behind his back.

Oh big whoop. It sounds great and that's all that matters, you do realize that almost all music is digitally mastered to sound better, right?! Hell, there are even entire genres of music that were made completely from digital instruments.

DragonForce isn't bring back Power metal because Power metal was never dead. DragonForce is just bring Power metal into the mainstream (and the only reason they are doing this is through GH3).

I know some people who think that the PODxt is cheating as far as guitar playing goes. The moment a tool is invented to make life easier, there will inevitably be those who think that it shouldn't be used because it takes more talent not to use it.

Me, I'm closer to the side of not really caring as long as it sounds good. At the very least, I disagree with the idea of purposely and artificially making your life harder just so you can say you did everything yourself.

To me Powermetal died once the original singer of Helloween left. I pretty much hate all other power metal bands.

Dragonforce is a joke and i do hate them. They do suck live and never play clean. Pisses me off that people think that Hermin Li is a good guitarist even though he sucks. I have no idea how people can compare him to Dimebag, Kirk Hammet, or any other good guitarist. Dragonforce SUCKS.

I'm not so much saying that it doesn't matter whether or not someone has talent. All I'm objecting to is the idea that people ought to shun new technology that makes things easier just so they can say they did everything themselves. Unless people have made their own guitars and amps by themselves, and then made their own generator to power the stuff, they're already getting a ton of help from people who did part of the work for them. I don't see the problem, then, with using other things to do other parts for them as well. The way I see it, the less time you have to spend on boilerplate grunt work, the more time you can spend actually being creative. The very foundation of human civilization is making use of things that someone else has already done in order to make it so you don't have to repeat the same work.

[QUOTE="Boba_Fett_3710"]Oh big whoop. It sounds great and that's all that matters, you do realize that almost all music is digitally mastered to sound better, right?! Hell, there are even entire genres of music that were made completely from digital instruments.TM_Darkside

You couldn't be more wrong. If you can't play live, you're not a talented band. I could play DragonFarce's "music" better than Herman Li can. They're a complete joke.

But Eric Clapton couldn't play John Petrucci's stuff live. Does that make him talentless? Herman Li is technically proficient, he just plays beyond his skill level and so it ends up sloppy.

It is a joke, and they don't take themselves seriously... ever.

That's why I like them.

Uhhh, no... In numerous interviews Herman RI basically calls himself a god, and thinks hes the most amazing guitarist ever.

Eric Clapton could play his style of music as good as anyone, though. Herman Li can't even play his own style.

Li is not a good guitarist, I'll leave it at that. I'll give him this, he's better than that other guitarist for DragonForce.

[QUOTE="Funky_Llama"]

I woudn't enjoy music as much if I knew that the person I'm listening to has no talent; a lot of the time, I want to be awed by the skills of the performer.

Bah. I'd just be happier in the knowledge that I'm listening to the work of a musician, not a sound engineer. Plus, there's the matter of expression - which, when the sound is altered artifically, is lost.

They're playing in a different key. I don't know why.
