I need your help.
As you may know, Im into games, that's why I want to persue my career in game designing.
Now I've said that I wanted to go to the following collegec/universities...

Cal Poly Pomona
DeVry University Pomona

The thing that I recently found is that Cal Poly doesnt have any programs that I want (game Design, programming, animation, etc...)
And DeVry is a technical/trade school, and is only for associate degree, me thinks. Although they have what I want which is Game Desgin and Simmulation, I've heard that it'll be hard for you to get a job once you complete the 4 year terms..I dont know, but my older brother and mother said not to go there because it's just like ITT. I mean trade school like these teaches you yeah, but when it comes to hands-on learning, and actually doing it, you'll get fired faster than you can say abracadabra.
So I ask you, what other colleges, universities out there should I 'check' out that has majors, programs in anything related to creating games?

What I really want to do after HS is really start making games. Im more like a game visionare where I create the story, what needs to be on the game, etc...
Can I go straight to Microsoft, Sony, and gaming firms like EA, Ubisoft, after HS?
This is what I really want. I know that not many people actually get employed because the skills necessary for this is high or something, I know that, but the thing about me is that I dont give a rats ass. I WILL make great games, I WILL someday work for Microsoft, and become president of MGS, or work or Sony Entertainment, EA, Ubisoft, even Bungie, or start my own team. I know what your saying, but this is my goal. There is nothing else that I want to do or be. I already have an idea for a game that will sure to be in par with Halo, or close to being that good, and I've been trying to contact Microsoft and Sony to see if they're interested...but no luck so far...which is really frustrating because this game WILL sell!

So I ask you, what other colleges/universities can I attend?
Can I instead work for Microsoft, Sony, EA, Pandemic, Ubisoft right after HS?
Is there any gaming co., firms nearby my place?
I live in Colton, California.
BTW, if you know anyway of contacting Shane Kim who is the Vice president of MGS (Microsoft Game Studios)? or anyone from Sony, EA, Ubisoft, Bungie, pandemic???Please, I WOULD really appreciate it.

Help me, and someday, when I have reached my dream, I will find a way to repay you.

Thank you

General tips:

-Do not go to ITT, DeVry, or the like. These schools will not teach you anything, are not accredited, and are expansive.

-Do not go to ANY Game Design college. At these supposed "Game Design" colleges or programs they will try to teach you everything. Coding/Art/Level Design/etc. At the end of the program you will not a bit of everything, when u go to apply for a job, the employer usually wants a programmer or an artist, and you won't be proficient enough in either....so no job.

-If you want to be a game programmer...go for Computer Science, artist....Art, Story design....Writing/Storytelling or the like. You can't be all of them, so choose 1 and stick with it. (Example: Hideo Kojima doesn't do everything, he started out as a story writer for MGS and moved on from there, to this day I doubt he knows how to code for the PS3...that's why he has people doing it for him. Choose only 1 field)

-Build up a portfolio. No matter what kind of an education you get you'll still need something to show of. Weather its your 1337 coding skills or jaw-dropping concept art. Have a Portfolio ready.

-Don't expect to start strong. Chances are you won't make it to Microsoft Game Studios SCEE or SCEA Santa Monica Studio w/ no experience (maybe if u have an outstanding portfolio). Start out small. Try to work for EA. Create you own Flash Games. Do Freelance work. Get Experience before going for a top player.

- Network. Make lots of friends. Friends can get you a job better than a resume.

Hope that helps. I have some family working in the industry, so I know the basic ups and downs of the industry :)

Become president of a company? Wait, wouldn't you want to go to school for business managment instead of programming if you want to be president?

Collegewise...hmm...I really can't reccommend you a college because I don't know your financial status or your aspiration.

But if your going for computer science, make sure the college is ABET Accredited.

If you want to write games you probably want a degree in Computer Science at real college.

However, if you aren't good at logic and math, or if you don't enjoy logic and math, don't get a degree in computer science--even if you like playing games. CS is hard and its a lot of work. You are setting yourself up for what could be an agonizing experience in school and in your career afterwards if you don't avoid it if you aren't good at it. The same thing holds true with art: You need to enjoy making art, not video games, if plan on making a career out of making art for video games.

If you don't love art, or math then see if you can get a degree in Information Technology or New Media somewhere. In IT they will teach you how to program without putting you through zillions of math courses or over emphasising logical and elegance in their programming progression. In New Media, you can learn a ton of different ways to make art, and design things (HTML, animation, photography, some programming, etc.) but you wont need the same artistic ability an animation, design or art major would need to succeed.

Agree w/ MeanQuestion. I'm currently a CS major. Its a lot of hard work, a lot a lot a lot. But I'm loving every moment of it.

Planning on getting Masters then PhD after B.S. then stating my own company (minoring in a new program called Engineering/CS Commercialization, which is kind of a business/economics minor)

The best school for making video games is Digipen. It's in Redmond, Washington which may be far away from you but it is right near Microsoft and Nintendo of America which is where you would want to move after school anyway. The school was formed with Nintendo's help and has a good reputation in the industry. For example the guys who made Portal were Digipen students.
