Can anyone recommend me their favorite DT album, they are the one band i always wanted to get into but, for some reason i never did. But i don't know where to start.hockey73
Scenes from a Memory is my fav album....excellent concept album and a great starting point!

Systematic Chaos is probably my favorite. Pull Me Under from Images and Words is also worth looking for.

Scenes from a Memory
Oh hell yes. I love Dream Theater. They're so talented!
I'd recommend Images and Words or Scenes From A Memory. If you want something darker, Train Of Thought.
That was quick. They don't waste any time, but I kinda hope Jordan Rudess brings out the piano like he did in Six Degrees of inner turbulence.

Train of Thought was their "metal" release, which is why it runs a close 2nd behind SFAM. Being a huge metal fan, I LOVED Train of Thought and it is the album I tend to pull out of my cd case the most.

Indeed. I loved it so as much as any of their previous albums. Except Falling From Inifinity. It was meh to me. My fave off Train Of Thought is "In The Name Of God", such an epic song.

I am quite fond of Endless Sacrifice

I'll have to listen to that one again. I haven't listened to any DT albums in full in quite a while.
Dream Theater ftw :D
I'd say a good starting point would be Images & Words, or Scenes from a Memory. I actually liked Falling into Inifinity quite a bit, it has some of my favorite songs (New Millenium, Hollow Years, Lines in the Sand, Trial of Tears)
Really looking forward to what they will put out next, which probably wont be for another year or 2 but it's cool I can wait lol

Revolver_Ocelot
I am a big fan of Falling into Infinity as well, it was said to be the album where they "sold out"...but I strongly disagree.
Obviously. They release a new record every two years and have been pretty steadily for a while now.
After the almost silly "Systematic Chaos" I'm hoping they dig deep and write a much more intimate, meaningful record this time. Sure, it can "rock" and all that jazz, I would just like a more soulful record. One that will hopefully make me feel something, SC was just such an empty experience.

I would say that SC is my least favorite DT release, even though I think that's such an awesome album name for a band like DT. All I have to say is that it should be very interesting!
