Just like drinking, nice taste and good effects, drown your saddness. Never smoked in my life thats just pointless.
So who here drinks and smokes on OT? And is there anyone here who doesn't do either like me? :P Its alright if you drink and/or smoke, though I think its vastly unhealthy. :P Its alright if one is trying to break addictions as well. Good luck to anyone here trying to break addictions. Toph_Girl250Drinking is not unhealthy unless you are consuming mass quantities of corporate swill. Moderate drinkers even live longer than both heavy and light to non drinkers. http://www.time.com/time/magazine/article/0,9171,2017200,00.html In the article they say the reasons are unclear however many alcoholic beverages are rich in vitimins. nutrients, etc.
I do both, but not that often.
Whenever I get drunk or buzzed I always want a cigarette or weed. I also smoke when stressed out, but try my best not to let the craving get to me most of the time.
I smoke, drink, trip, whatever. All are entertaining to some degree. I don't regularly smoke cigarettes though.
I used to smoke 4 to 4 and a half packs a day.No lie, till one day I gotten sick and landed in the hospital for five weeks, which I had no choice but to quit smoking.I rather be a non smoker.Cigarettes were killing me slowly. If you are wondering what sickness I had,it was Strep*A*.A very serious sickness.I almost died, when my life was saved,I almost lost my right leg. Thanks to the great doctors and nurses at the hospital, they saved my life.
So you wouldn't call one to two glasses of Ale every day or two, with more on occasion, moderate drinking? Beer doesn't have much alcohol in it anyway and moderate doesnt mean light. Yes, that is more than moderate drinking, according to the people who do research on the damaging effects of alcohol. And yes, the scientific perspective on moderate drinking would be considered light drinking by most people.[QUOTE="Murderstyle75"][QUOTE="rastotm"] The average amount of alcohol consumed among those who drink is far higher than what moderate drinking really is. Moderate drinking is very little drinking.

Only by the people who drink corporate industrial swill like Bud and Miller. Real beer doesn't come in 15, 18, 20, 24 and 30 packs. It never comes in a 12 pack except for a couple of the national Microbreweries like The Boston Beer Company and Sierra Nevada. Even real liquor drinkers don't slam shots or mix drinks. Its something that is sipped and for $30+, they are not consuming their bottle in one or two nights.[QUOTE="rastotm"]Yes, that is more than moderate drinking, according to the people who do research on the damaging effects of alcohol. Do both. Not proud of the latter, but I'm more a chew person anyways. Still, it's something that I should get out of my life sooner rather than later. No shame in drinking though, I love it.
Having a beer on one hand and a cig in the other is always a plus for me but if cigs are not available I'm fine with the can.
I don't like being hungover, so I only drink occasionally. Unfortunately, all of my pet vices are illegal to one degree or another, or at least difficult to legally obtain. I wish I lived in the 19th or early 20th century, you could buy practically anything OTC back then.RhazaknaKnow dat feel

The occasional drink is good for you, though.
* no solid evidence proves this. I hate how everyone spreads this crap[QUOTE="Baconbits2004"][QUOTE="Toph_Girl250"] Its alright if you drink and/or smoke, though I think its vastly unhealthy. 0Hamburgher

The American Heart Association has reported that "More than a dozen prospective studies have demonstrated a consistent, strong, dose-response relation between increasing alcohol consumption and decreasing incidence of CHD (coronary heart disease). The data are similar in men and women in a number of different geographic and ethnic groups. Consumption of one or two drinks per day is associated with a reduction in risk of approximately 30% to 50%".[22]Â
That's not the only thing it helps with either:
ÂModerate alcohol intake also helps reduce the risk of some other disorders, including type 2 diabetes, gallstones and peripheral artery diseaseperhaps even dementia. SRC
[QUOTE="Cyberdot"]Dopamine and shit. Have more sex.I don't do either of them.
Horrible stuff. Not sure why many people like them.

[QUOTE="Rich3232"][QUOTE="Cyberdot"]Dopamine and shit. Have more sex. uhhhh. Many drugs offer far better and longer highs than sex does. The high you get from sex is pretty intense, but incredibly short, and fvck that noise.I don't do either of them.

I stopped smoking 10 years, 10 months and 15 days ago. I have been drinking for a very long time though I don't drink like I used to. If I have more than 3 drinks a month, than I am doing good. I have unopened bottles of liquor at home that have been sitting around for 4 years or so.
I can't legally drink and my mom has taught me well to stay away from cigarettes. She's been smoking longer than I've been alive and she's told me several times that it's very hard to quit. I think I'll stay away from alcohol. It would be good to not get addicted to that. :P
I don't do either, I never did either, and I don't condone doing either. They're just nasty habits that kill you over time.
I won't impeed other people's rights to do it, but I've seen what they do to people who abuse them. Smoking really has no positive effects and the only reason they're still legal is do to their historical significance and the fact that they don't make you trip out, so there was never any federal attempt to ban them, and we all know what happened when drinking was illegal.
