A rise in circumcisions would also most likely lead to many teenage boys "discovering" themselves.

I really wished I was not circumcised but back then I had no idea how it all worked. I swear, if I have a boy, he's not going to be circumcised.

Capitan_Kid
What? Hows a circumcised boy gonna discover happy fun time any sooner than a none circumcised one?

I guess because the non mutilated penis requires a bit more cleaning, and well the more time you spend at that special age with your hands down there, the more likely you are too discover super happy fun time.

Unless those that aren't circumcised actually wash their manhood really well and not just hold it under the spring for five seconds and say "That'll do"

Ew? You realize that the skin is there for a purpose right. Just like nails on your fingers. Why cut something off that was intended by nature. I also read somewhere that the trauma from the pain can have negative psychological consequences in the future.

The easiest way to avoid getting infected with something is to use a condom. Something these studies don't include in their numbers. Safe sex >>> circumcision

Circumcision is a health benefit and all males should be circumcised. Period. In Africa they have found the rates of HIV and AIDS to drop drastically after they circumcised the men.

Not surprised given recent studies. However I would probably turn the issue towards bodily sovereignty though.

The former: People without access to condoms. The latter: Military servicemen who cannot access proper shower facilities on a regular basis.

If uncircumcised, learn to pull skin back and clean properly. If circumcised, clean properly but make sure you're fully circumcised or learn to pull skin back and clean properly. If having a son, either have him circumcised as a newborn/baby or don't have it done. Mine was done as a "right of passage into manhood" as that was the culture i grew up in, and i can say that the recovery period was painful (and painfully embarrassing).

Cutting or removing some or all parts of one's genital organs. Considering there's a crap load of nerves in there and the foreskin goes down naturally during sex, I'd classify it as mutilation.

It's fine if you want to have it done, it just is what it is.

It is what it is, but not everyone will agree with your very broad definition of mutilation. I'm not saying you're wrong though, but personally I wouldn't call it mutilation.

That's a term used specifically for surgery, though. Unless you consider circumcision to be cosmetic surgery then I don't see how it applies.

Thats like saying female circumsision isnt multilation. Female circumsision has the benefits of reduced hiv rates and infections but you dont see people in usa doing that.

Strange but true

Circumcised penis averages 0.8 cm shorter than the uncircumcised penis.

(possibly due to improper technique occasionally removing too much tissue and tethering the organ slightly)

Id call shortening my willie a mutilation of my manhood

My cousins penis is all messed up from his circumcision. People can make big mistakes doing cirumcisions too. Living proof the risk isnt worth it.

Technically female circumcision isn't always analogous to male circumcision. Female circumcision has varying degrees. Some only remove the 'hood' while other remove all external genitalia. The latter would be akin to completely removing the entire penis not just the foreskin.

Still, it does have some advantages, and the negatives are not that important. For that reason, I wouldn't call it mutilation. If the negatives were considerably worse, then I think it would fit the most common definition of mutilation. You are however free to disagree with me.

I'm fine with things being done out of medical necessity, but this is mostly just aesthetics/religion.

(most of the negatives, of not being circumcised, are associated with poor hygiene, not the foreskin itself)

bigfoot2045

This "study"(article) doesn't confirm anything, it says in 'Africa' that it's 65% higher, but that's due to hygiene. Better education on health and hygiene would be a better solution to reduce risks than removing a part of someone's body w/o their permission (especially for aesthetic/religious reasons).

This is not disease prevention, it is a cosmetic surgery.

Circumcision is about hygiene. The reality is that most men can't be trusted to wash properly down there. Circumcision ensures it's not a problem.

thegerg

Wait how could being circumcised prevent HIV and AIDS? If you stick a penis in a vag with the diseases you're bound to get it cut or uncut. Again most studies that support the view that males should be circumcised are American where 75% of the population has been circumcised. While studies from Europe where most of the population have not been circumcised found no correlation between disease prevention and circumcision.

The only reason for it today is for cultural tradition.

"If you stick a penis in a vag with the diseases you're bound to get it cut or uncut."

No, you're not. Ignorance FTL.

Do a little research before posting.

Tell me how removing a bit of skin will prevent a disease? There is no studies in Europe that supports the biased claims from the American studies.

Also fvck you. (Normally I don't mean it but for you I do)
