He did? Where?

All he did was recite some completely made-up "debate" between him and an Atheist. If he wanted to prove something, he should've provided concrete evidence of some sort. But he didn't (because he can't.)

Stop trying to "prove" the existence of a God. It comes off as insecure when you supposedly have your "faith."

That's your proof?

Brilliant scientists and philosophers are not a modern development.

I didn't watch the whole video, because he more or less is making the same points over and over again.

He says "who could have mentioned 1400 years ago that the shape of the earth is spherical". The ancient greeks proposed that the Earth was likely spherical over 2300 years ago. In fact, all the questions he asked (that I listened to) were answered by ancient scholars long before the Quran was even written.

Stesilaus

Hmm, I'm wondering about this myself. What is Islam's view on evolution? Some Muslims I speak to say that they are fine with the concept of evolution in all lifeforms EXCEPT for humans. Why humans would somehow be exempt from evolution when every other creature on this planet evolves is beyond me.

Could you enlighten me on this issue, TC? The Muslims I spoke to might be completely misinformed. I'm not sure.

If the Big Bang was mentioned in the Qur'an 1,400 years ago, then why were the ones who first developed the Big Bang theory not Muslims?

This is the problem I always have with the argument that the Qur'an contains all these scientific facts: the "discovery" that the Qur'an supposedly contains them always postdates that discovery of the facts themselves. First a discovery of a scientific fact is made by scientists, then Muslims go look in the Qur'an and try to figure out where this fact is mentioned.

All the rest of the arguments are basically the same.

Actually, not only did the ancient Greeks some 2000+ years ago know that the Earth was spherical, they even calculated its curvature with surprising accuracy.

Don't get taken in by these lies. Think for yourself! Is the earth really egg shaped? Didn't anyone know about fresh and salt water before Islam? etc.

RationalAtheist

Well, technically speaking it is, depending on what egg we're talking about. The Earth is known to be a very slight oblate spheroid, rather than a perfect sphere.

wow, that's your proof? Really so because it says the heaven and earth's came together and madea bang. In which religion doesn't it say? Christianity, Greek mythology, old scandinavian mythology. You also have babylonians that had the 60 systems that was almost as acurate as ours today. So because EVERYTHING what is the koran is the truth? There have been many before that haven't proved this, but believed it to be so. We COULD prove it after when people had the eqiupment and technolgy to find this all out.

The Ancient Greeks not only knew the earth was round, they had a very close idea of exactly how big it was.

Pick any of the logical rebuttals in this thread.

Fishing for vague literary allusions that might in hindsight be interpreted as similar to scientific principles is a very poor proof for a deity.

To boil that down to a witty saying: even a broken clock is right twice a day.

You should watch some of videos by the user philhellenes on youtube.

He has loads of videos, if you watch them with an open mind I have no doubt you'll become an atheist.

He also "debunks" those things he said, like when people say "quran saying that the universe is expanding is proof" when the quran didn't even say it was expanding it said the universe was big.

Infact HERE is philhellenes reply to the video you posted.

I really doubt this.. I am an atheists, but i don't think it would do that in general. Even though i think Phil is awesome. I have been subscribed for quite some time.

I'm sure there are several problems that could be uses to demonstrate this. One would be misconceptions about atheism, and atheists.

depends on what translation you use:

Yousaf Ali: With power and skill did We construct the Firmament: for it is We Who create the vastness of pace.

FACEPALM. the ancient greeks and romans knew of latitude and longitude, knew the earth was round, knew how to propel things with steam and if given 50 more years would have made the combustion engine, then a bunch of retard german barbarians killed them all, and northern africa was sacked by arabia, and all the knowledge they had was lost. then columbus tried to rediscover the earht is round.

I respond the same as I would to people who think Nostradamus can see the future:

Say something vaguely and poetically enough, and you can make it fit anything. If they had all this knowledge 1400 years ago, why did they not bring it up earlier? Why did science have to "rediscover" it?

Oh right, because after science find out people went and retroactively fit their current knowledge to the Qur'an's passages.

Which is why I said you should watch every video, since he disproves all the points made by religious people. But I'm not going to try any more, I've given you the link... it's up to you to watch them, you're obviously stuck in your ways and NOT open minded like you claimed to be

Please let me know when the moment of truth is suppose to come? When I'm supposed to turn into an Atheist.

There's no one video I can link to, like he says you can't disprove god in a 10 minute video.

Which is why I said you should watch every video, since he disproves all the points made by religious people. But I'm not going to try any more, I've given you the link... it's up to you to watch them, you're obviously stuck in your ways and NOT open minded like you claimed to be

Sounds like you're the one who's close minded. I have watched many videos and I specifically remember him. Feel free to post again when you ARE more open minded and we can have a serious discussion about the videos.

Not really. He just took some passages from the quran and twisted them up to make them relevant today. You see the same things with the Nostradamus people. He did make an interesting observation about the machine having an inventor. But other than that I have yet to be convinced.
