I'll be learning Malaysian history. Half of it is clogged up with appraisals and worship of random political figures.... which is why I find it so annoying to study.

Well I'm sure for some countries it would be really boring, not every country can hold as much history as the USA.[QUOTE="Gamerz1569"]
Yes I think its true for all countries. You live in a country it would be quite stupid to live in a country and not know its history. Besides history is a curriculum of every school the best place to start would be your own.
gotdangit
But seriously, what if a country didn't do anything? Founded in whatever year, some famous people, what they did during world wars? What else?
That is insane. As history goes America is not one of the most interesting in my opinion.[QUOTE="bri360"][QUOTE="FamiBox"]
lol what I was thinking. Thousands of years of history vs a few hundred.
TreeMoBMoney
hahaha exactly, what tc said is so stereotypical American to, i lol'd so hard haha
what you said is pretty pretty stereotypical Canadian, mean and spiteful for no apparent reason. if you laughed hard at that, well you need to grow up, seriously. I live in macau, a fast growing country built on money from casinos, and you know what? we dont learn macau history, we learn chinese history, isnt that something? know why? because this countries to UNDERDEVELOPED. Yes that old Canadian stereotype of mean and spiteful...[QUOTE="Mercury_May2112"]
In British Columbia, we learn Canadian history, British history (before Canada was discovered), Napoleon, the French and English Revolutions, and the world's history in 20th century. I never took History 12 so I don't know what they teach then.

^ what this guy said.....America started with immigrants, we learned all about before, dunno what school these other people went to but judging by some of them the school sucked.
You never did the former Soviet Union, Japan, or China even? I thought those were taught throughout the country. Also we did Greek history and Mayan / Aztec history, those were covered pretty minimully though
There's not as much to learn about Canada as there is for other countriesbecause Canada is still young so we learn about other countries too.LightR
There still is a **** load to learn, and we learn about the British and French settlers. Didn't your school make you learn a ton about Quebec? And the World wars.
At my highschool we have Canadian, American, and World history. We're only required to take Canadian history once.
nZiFFLe
I think that should be changed. Canada needs to learn more about our past.
At my school 3 years of History is required. World History, US History and US History 2. Currently I am in US 2 and I have the hardest teacher in the school :( It is so hard... And the other teacher I hear is a cake walk... He gives the answers on the test if you ask him!
i don't think germany learn about nazi's in great depth compared to all the world. i meanknow hitlers personality just as much a Himmler
I live in Northern Ireland where history was taught as
World wars (Which especially at the somme theres alot to learn about as 36th Ulster was the only British regiment to achieve all its objectives on the first day)
Celtic Ireland and the 4 seperate kingdoms of Ireland
The Ulster and Munster plantations
Potato famine
Home rule movement/division of ireland into two states and potential invasion of the republic of Ireland 1921
The troubles 1969-1998
Then some Ancient Greek and Roman history.
But I wasn't a huge history fan and went down the Archeology route instead.
