Ever notice how they seal DVD and CD cases in that tough, stretchy plastic, and the tops and corners are like glue? Very annoying to get off. Half the time you end up damaging your product with the force that is pressured upon the casing.

ive never had problem with it.
i usually use one of my keys to get a small rip in the plastic then take the ret off by hand without damaging the product
i never have a problem, just find where the plastic is folded and tear there very easy i dont know why you would need a knife
I hate the packaging on digital downloads. All the header information, start- and stop- bits and such. I often end up breaking the file itself trying to get through all those damn ones and zeros.Digital distribution ftw. :P

Yeah CD and DVD packaging are pretty annoying, esspecially on DVD's when you have to unlatch those two notches to open the case. :| It's like really? So annoying.
I just hate those digi-packs. My Dream Theater live CDs are all little pieces of cardboard. I just want the normal jewel casesOblivionfan10

The file part of a fingernail clipper can easily provide you with a starting point to remove that plastic - and yeah you're right, it is a pain.:PEver notice how they seal DVD and CD cases in that tough, stretchy plastic, and the tops and corners are like glue? what's even worse are those stickers you get on the top of CD cases. Cases that are already sealed in plastic! GAHHHHH! Those stickers serve no purpose other than to make me want to kill the person who put it there!

Actually they're there to let the manufacturer and the retailer know whether or not the package has been opened or otherwise tampered with to prevent the public, and the retailers, from trying to return used product as if it's new. Also it's an old holdover from when DVDs were still relatively new and a lot of retailers shelved DVDs in large CD bins in which everything is faced out. That way you could look down and see the movie you wanted immediately instead of having to flip through the entire row.
The DVD packaging isn't too annoying but some of the plastic they use is too stretchy and the dogbones (the spine wraparound stickers) are too sticky and don't want to come off. CDs however only take me three seconds to open and get the cd out unless the packaging is really unusual.

But the albums are already wrapped in plastic, so you know that if there's no plastic then it might have already been opened by someone - no need for the extra sticker. I haven't seen any DVDs with these kind of stickers, but you get the artist/album name on the side of the CD case anyway so they should just stock them with that side facing out. But if they are still really adverse to putting the CDs that way round they could at least just put in a strip of paper with the details rather than a horrible sticker which is almost impossible to get off, leaves marks on the case and causes the album to stick to the other cases in your CD collection between which it is sandwiched.
Get rid of them, I can't take it anymore!!!

The plastic comes of and tears rather easily so pretty much every store has a plastic re-shrink machine. Because of this most music companies (back in the day when there were record stores) would allow music retailers to return some of their product even if it had been re-wrapped in plastic reshrink. But...if the dogbone (little sticker dealie) is broken they won't accept it.
Also people are just used to browsing through CDs face out just like they're used to browsing for DVDs spine out. They could always change it but honestly I think the music hard copy dealers will all but disappear before they would bother to change how they operate. But yeah they are really fairly useless as I can easily get in and out of a CD and DVD package and you would never know I had been there. So...yeah, useless really.
