Well I bought Civilization IV (from EB Games) about a year ago and went home to play it. I didn't really like the turn based part of the game and returned it the next day, what I didn't know was that I wouldn't get a full refund. I went back there and I only got about 1/4 of what I paid, however if I go somewhere like Future Shop they'd give me a 100% refund. I even returned my PS3 at Future shop because it was an open box (and it wasn't clearly labeled) and got a brand new one plus a Blu-Ray Spiderman 3 DVD and MLB 08 (Which didn't come with the bundle I was buying, thats called good service).

This disturbs me because I bought THPG a couple of days ago from EB but now I want to return it and buy Skate. So I just want to know from those people who shop at EB, do they still have this bad return policy?

Because if they still do then I'd be better off buying Skate and keeping THPG.

If it's still sealed you can return it within a week.

Sounds to me like you should be renting games and not just buying them.

The fact that you got 1/4 credit for returning a PC game sounds like a pretty dang good return policy to me. Most places tell you to get lost when returning a PC game.

if you bought it new and opened it they will not give you a full refund. I don't know any place that would give you a full refund on an open game unless so amazing occurences happen.

So does this mean I can get a full refund returning a console game?

As long as you haven't opened it. If you bought it used, I think you can return it for a full refund.

Dude,he didn't actually return it,they consider it a trade in.That copy of civ would go to the used game section. You can't do this with some games though, like mmo's,because of cd keys.

I always try to avoid returning stuff, thats why i choose my purchase carefully. I would like to recommend though, and i think alot of people would agree, and no bagging out involved either, but maybe you should rent before you buy, saves u sepnding alot of money and on top of that you know what kinda game you want.

I dont know about where your from, but I have NEVER been able to trade in a PC game. Ever. I have never seen used PC games available either.

And no, you cant return a new game for a full refund, unless you havent opened the game. Used you usually can.

Damn, I opended it and have owned it for a few days, but I think I have the receipt.

But when I rent games I either beat them or come close to beating them. So whats the point in blowing $60 when I already blasted through most of the game?

The vendor (EB) may not take it back, but usually the publisher of the game will accept returns within 30 days of purchase as long as you have proof of purcahse from a vendor.

You didn't "return" Civ IV, you "traded it in."

Never shop at EB unless you can't find something anywhere else.

Yeah, I've loved playing Tony Hawk's games since I was a kid and it still seems to be more fun than Skate. I think I'm just going to buy a second controller.

By the way, a question to anyone who lives on Canada. I tried looking on Futureshops (and EB's) website looking for another SIXAXIS controller, but all they've got is SIXAXIS Dualshock 3 controllers. Have they discontinued the SIXAXIS?

it's because you played it. places like wal*mart and future shop do a lot of bulk buying, but futureshop wouldn't take back a used game wal*mart mightbecause they just, don't care. places like EB can't afford to do stuff like that just because you don't like it..rent it, borrow it, read a review, it's not their problem that you didn't like it.

This is pretty typical of used game stores. They charge you about 25% of the MSRP, and resell at about 75% MSRP.

It seems like a ripoff, and for the most part is, but the retailer takes a bit of a gamble on each copy they buy hoping to resell it before the MSRP drops dramatically.

If a used game gets oversaturated a store can windup w/ hundreds of used copies they have no hope of selling.

As for used pc games hardly any stores will take them since you technically don't buy the game you buy a non-transferable liscense.

You think that's going to work? they check the disc before they give it to you.

yes. my friend needed a memory card to switch his saves from his old 360 to the new one that he bought. then he returned to gamestop and said that it didn't work.

don't think u can return PC games because of the whole cd-key thing and all.
