I love how people use the construct that is society to earn vast sums of wealth, and then turn around and claim they owe society nothing.

It's not their fault using society to fulfill their goals anyone with a brain would do whats best for them. Poor people also make up society and they are dragging it down by forcing those who work hard (Bill gates) to give their wealth away.Then what incentive is there to create and innovate if everyone is on the same level. Blame the whole society for allowing to be corrupt not just people who take advantage of it.
and... that's why nothing ever changes. In america were taught just to worry about our selves.wellbigd
I'm glad things don't fit your definition of change. Your "change" hurts me.

Turn off fox news, put down the remote, and get some fresh air. Just because someone want the rich to give back to society does not mean one wants to invoke communism.

The rich pay most of the taxes as is. How much more should they have to pay?

I'm confused, are you saying it would hurt you to care about someone other than youself?
The rich pay most of the taxes as is.

They control most of the wealth, as it is. Also, one could easily argue that they benefit the most from modern society.

Rolling back the Bush era tax cuts that placed America in the structural deficit it's in now would be a good start.

You would be, afterall you're not the person I was responding to.

Not really.It's what conservative ideology strives for;

They benefit more from society, hence they should pay more. It's quite simple logic really.
On a side note I'll just say I'm not American, nor do I pay "no" taxes. I have to say, it's almost comical to watch the American right preach about how America ought to be bankrupting itself so the rich may get a little richer.

I disagree. I would say they benefit from society less than everyone else because they're constantly being demonized and villified by folk like you.
It's equally laughable to see you actually have no clue what you're talking about. The right doesn't want taxes going up on anybody. They want taxes to go down so everyone can get a little richer.

I donno how asking the most well off amoung us to pay more in taxes is demonizing them, but ok...

Really? Because there's a good few decades of evidence of the american right wing preferentially cutting taxes for those who are already 'richer', while cutting essential social services for the poor. The fact that they can beat that drum, while america is 15 trillion dollars in debt due to their inane policies, and still get support is laughable.

Feel free to describe it, keep in mind I will be comparing it to the record of modern republican presidents. (also current republican presidential front runners/members of congress/members of senate)

That's not how you demonize them.
Reagan cut taxes for everyone. The Bush Tax Cuts cut taxes for everyone. That seems to disprove you right there. Cutting social services isn't raising taxes, but you're going to have to show which programs they've cut before your statement flies.
We had huge economic growth from Reagan up until about 2007-08. Our lower tax policy isn't the only thing that contributed to our deficit. You conveniently left that out.

How can you compare it when you haven't represented American conservatism fairly or accurately?
It's what conservative ideology strives for;
rich get richer, poor get poorer
Conservative ideology is probably more "to each their own". The problem is a lack of a safety net and proper guidelines for fairness. The trouble with any merit based system is that the best, brightest, most industrious, and also some with luck will tend to continue to distance themselves from the less talented. It's like a race. The fastest people keep getting further and further ahead the more you let them run.Conservative ideology is probably more "to each their own". Why is that a problem? What compels the "best, brightest, most industrious" individuals to limit themselves in accordance with those who are less talented?

You're forcing them to do something they don't want to taking their wealth and wasting it on useless people. Also I think fox news is for morons but great assumption.

Libertarians would be a better description for that question.
As for American conservatives, it would depend on the level of conservatism one believes in. The more, the less government regulation.
But that's not saying much seeing I don't lean towards the right that often in terms of fiscal positions.

I see. The same can very well be said of left wingers if it's not too hopeful then.Please Log In to post.
