Although it does sound odd, really everything you learn in 12th grade is just reviewing stuff you've already learned, and a few new things, definately could do without really.

I think they should bring grade 13 back. (canada).

It's Ontario. And I agree. I know many people who go back for a "victory lap" anyway, either to upgrade classes or simply because they're unsure of their future. Grade 13/OAC should be brought back, assuming it makes sense to.

It's a fantastic idea. for the following reasons. 1. Our education system doesn't work anyways. 2. Our education system is archiac and doesn't fit well with the times. 3. Our education system isn't interested in educating people so they can attend higher level education.. only conditioning them for a 40+ hour work week.. and stressful lives. 4. Our education system needs serious restructuring. 5. And finally.. people who want to learn.. learn.. regardless of a education system. SO choosing to attend classes or participate in educational programs is more beneficial than force feeding people stuff they aren't interested in or have no appreciation for. Then Again refer to point number 3. Anyways.. everyone who said no for this is a traditionalist and has a hard time dealing with thinking about new ways to approach things..

I agree with pretty much everything you said. I thought people on here were smarter in general and would bring more than "oo noo, the US is already dumb" to the argument.

Bad idea. It's the last time opportunity you have to get to sleep with a women at the age of 17/18.

Also it's supposed to be the best year, that's if the school has the money.

In the UK, I believe, you graduate high school at 16 at which point you have the option of going on to GCSEs for two years before heading off to university. However, I'm not terribly familiar with the UK's school system and I could be dead wrong on all of that. Plus, I'm not sure how the GCSE cIasses would correlate to American education levels (it would seem from what I've seen British users on here and other sites saying about it that GCSE cIasses are more like AP cIasses in the US than the actual start of college). So perhaps 12th grade isn't that necessary after all, although either way imo the US still has a ways to go in education reform before we can start thinking about shortening the length of students' educational careers.

No, in the UK we do GCSE's at 16, then you can choose to go to "College" and do whats called A Levels and then go University at 18 or 19. Most just finish education at 16 or they carry on and fail theirA levels, but still get into a **** university, to get a useless degree.

I think the American system is better, but I don't see why you have to spend four years at university, you should be able to get a degree in 3 years easily.

I found most of highschool a waste of time. I obtained most of my knowledge outside of school. I realize that it's great for those wanting to go on to big careers, however, I'm a cook, and I plan on doing it for a lot of years. Essentially the only skill I need is basic math, and maybe a little chemistry for mixing certain bases and acids. I guess that's just me though.

If they're gonna opt out of twelfth grade then I highly doubt they'll wanna go to college. Too much work. There are way too many people supporting this in here. :|

My first reaction was, "this is a ridiculous idea". However the more I think about it and what high school was like is the more i support it. In school there are 3 kinds of people. Those who want to learn and those who could careless. Those kids that didn't want to learned ended up bring everyone in the school down with there distractions. Thats one of the major reasons why I find College is so much different better than public high schools. If your in college you have to pay so much money that only the people who have a strong desire to learn will go. So just about everyone motivates everyone else making each other much more productive. If in high school they got rid of those distraction kids I guarantee school performance would sky rocket.

If you read my post closely you probably noticed that I said there were 3 kinds of kids but I only mentioned 2. The 3rd kid are those that are easily swayed down either the wrong or right path. They don't have a strong enough will to fight the influence of those around them. So if you surround them with highly motivated students and remove the bad seeds they will preform better. Place them under the influence of under achievers and they will under achieve.

Its already optional here in Jamaica. Some universities though require 12th grade education and others don't.

I honestly wish they would cut off 12th grade.. In its stead gave more money towards college.. I prefer college infinitely more.

I would rather they cut off 12th grade and have my and my parents tax dollars go to an extra year in college.
