Okay, let's just end the topic at this; that picture is mega-creepy, Biggie Smalls and Tupac Shakur were amazing, and Jay-Z is the best rapper out there now.Jaks_Secret

I have to disagree, the best rapper out there is 50 Cent(NOT). No but the best rapper has to be none, everybody just went downhill and i'll have to say Hip Hop Mainstream is corrupted, only Underground are the best imo.

Notorious B.I.G had an album out called Ready to Die

One of the song titles on the album is Suicidal Thoughts

Emo? You be the judge.

Welis

Badass song, probably my favorite track from Biggie...

I just gave it a try, man it is dope that he wrote that song when he was high, kinda freaky at the same time at the end of the song when you hear his heart stops pumping. Yet he stated: Biggie stated that he was high on marijuana when he wrote this song and did not feel suicidal; rather, he would be relieved from stress if he were dead.

Guess he wasn't ''emo'' if i am allowed to say that.

Listen to God's Bathroom Floor by Atmosphere. Do it.

Just listened to
Atmosphere - God's Bathroom Floor and i must say it is a very strong drug addict song, very strong. This is a very good song i must say, thanks!

Slug isn't actually addicted to drugs. I don't know where he got the inspiration for the song, it's uber old, but it's about ketamine addiction. Listen to God Loves Ugly, Flesh, Trying to Find a Balance, Always Coming Back Home to You, Say Shhh, and anything else by him. He is honestly the Best rapper.

Lol at how this thread became a discussion about homosexuality. But getting to the point. I think emo rap can be possible, but I don't know of any emo rap song.

Well, Jay-Z is the best rapper that mostly everyone knows. For more "underground"ish stuff I'd have to go with Aesop Rock, or Captain Steve and the Scurvy Crew. http://www.myspace.com/captaindan

I really like Listen to God Loves Ugly, really remarkable lyrics powerful as well! And i've just heard Trying to Find a Balance, really chill and i didn't knew he was white (No Racist) real dope. But i have to disagree he is not the best rapper around but that is your opinion. In my honest opinions there are no ''Best'' rapper around today, only Tupac because he is a Legend and made tons of songs and released tons of albums etcs.

I respect what your saying, and you saying Tupac is the best is your opinion as well. Slug is an underground legend, and the argument about have tons of songs and albums, Atmosphere and Slug have just as many. Tupac was an amazing lyricist but I just don't relate to many of his songs. I can relate to what Slug is saying seeing as how he is white, from Minnesota, and doesn't rap about b**ches and killing people. Which is why I say he is the best rapper.

@Yesiknowmyen I respect your opinions regarding Tupac and greater Underground Artist, and i understand it is hard to catvh what black rapper spit out yet Tupac speaks clearly and his metaphors is deep, listen to Dear Mama, Temptation, Pain, Changes and Keep ya head up he is dope. Otherwise if you are looking for other ''Great'' underground rapper who ain't talking about Bi**** and ho*s then i highly recommend Cormega, KRS-ONE, Cunninlynguists and especialy K-Otix. ;)

I guess you could say that's the equivalent of emo rap. But emo rap isn't really a cIassification I'd use to describe anything in rap...

Mabye this was some vague refrence to Sam and Max: Night of the Raving Dead, where Sam and Max have to prove they are cool by performing an "emo rap", in order to turn the main bad guys army of zombies against him (who is an emo vampire). and i think this is my 1000 post :D.

What an assinine and completely useless commment. It was directed at the TC. And just to let you know, you put more effort into typing that post then searching for that band on Myspace.

And to USSJAndrew. No, it's not my band.

it could be considered "struggle verses", the artist talking about growing up in the ghetto. But that's not really whining, it's how he grew up. So I wouldn't consider any form of hip hop emo.

So Tupac is emo cause he wrote passionate/emotional lyrics? I guess Metallica would be emo as well. Along with The Beatles, Pink Floyd, etc. You know, any music that has any emotional thought put into it.

I just want to know when Pop-Punk has been renamed to Emo. Fall Out Boy, Simple Plan, and others are not emo. At least bands like Taking Back Sunday and Senses Fail have songs that are sort of structured like real emo band songs such as Sunny Day Real Estate. =\

Apparently...

[QUOTE="TallicaFan2005"]

Emo is so hard to define anyway.

SuperSaiyanLink

Not really.

Sure it is, to some people Blink 182 is emo, but they definitely aren't IMO.

Emo to me is Nine Inch Nails and screamo metal.

emo is short for emotive hardcore: a subgenre of punk

Not anymore apparently. It's become a facade.

it's the same as when people refer to metal as screamo

I just want to know when Pop-Punk has been renamed to Emo. Fall Out Boy, Simple Plan, and others are not emo. At least bands like Taking Back Sunday and Senses Fail have songs that are sort of structured like real emo band songs such as Sunny Day Real Estate. =

i don't listen to the genre . maybe normal punk like early afi, misfits and minor threat

it's more of a cultural fad than a genre of music now, I guess :P

[QUOTE="Jaks_Secret"]Okay, let's just end the topic at this; that picture is mega-creepy, Biggie Smalls and Tupac Shakur were amazing, and Jay-Z is the best rapper out there now.YesIKnowMyEnemy

Wrong. Jay-Z is the self-proclaimed best rapper out there. I can think of five rappers who are way better.

Slug (Atmosphere)

Eyedea & Abilities

Aesop Rock

Murs

Sage Francis

Brother Ali

Agree. Jay-Z would get smoked like a blunt if he tried to battle.

Okay, who the hell bumped a topic over a month old? Two weeks is the limit, this is almost two months. Seriously, I posted in this back before I started using orange text!
