For ME, the difference between TRULY hating someone/something and wanting to kill someone/something is very FINE, IMO.
Right, but we're not talking about alwayspureblood's world, we're talking about the real world.. and in the real world, hate does not always lead to murder and murder is not always caused by hate. Therefore, there is no direct link between the two and this is why hate is not illegal and that's why it should stay legal.Making hate illegal... That would be impossible! :P
You'd get arrested for hating your ex, or some terrorist guy...

Actually there's been a few people killed for looking goth/emo. And there was that story on the news and it showed a video of a crowd of thousands beating up 'emo' kids in Mexico. That didn't stem from prejudice and hate?
[QUOTE="Forever_Changes"][QUOTE="bangell99"]Okay, maybe I was being a bit extreme. The word "hate" is used very lightly these days. I dislike emos not for their fashion sense or their musical tastes. Most emos are attention-seeking idiots who hate life, not because they have mental issues with depression, but because that's cool, right?!
Sorry if I offended you. I wouldn't stereotype every emo as an idiot... Infact, what's the actual definition of an emo?
bangell99
All emos are whiny and depressed and annoying. That's not me stereotyping. That's a defintion.
bangell99
it seems here like you're pretty damn sure of the definition of an "emo".
Waaah! I'm typing very fast here.
okay I'll try and clear it up for you.
Emo stands for "emotional hardcore". It grew out of the Washington DC Hardcore punk scene of the 80s. The first true emo band was Rites of Spring. In the 90s emo became closer in style to pop-punk with Weezer's pinkerton album and bands like Cap'n Jazz. It's actually good music and I suggest you look into it. Most fans believe that emo died out by the end of the 90s - although there are still some "true" emo bands around today. When emo hit the mainstream with the bands like Jimmy Eat World, more bands emulated this style - resulting in the third wave of emo bands.
However, as has happened with indie, people don't really know much about the genre and wrongly identify bands like MCR and Fallout Boy as emo. Now the term basically refers to any teenager with tight black jeans, a studded belt and fringe that covers half of their face.

Nah Rachel was the hottest IMO 8) They're not still making music. I liked them from about 8-13 then didn't listen to them for years. Went out to buy my mums birthday present CD (Scissor Sisters which I love as well!) and found the Best Of S-Club 7 for a fiver! Couldn't resist :P

What? What does that have to do with anything? I stated: "hate does not always lead to murder". I did not say that hate never leads to murder. Providing a few examples of a couple of emo kids being attacked in no way changes my opinion nor the fact that hate is perfectly legal and is akin to liking the color green.okay I'll try and clear it up for you.

I wasn't talking about the music genre! :P
I guess I quite like pop-punk, but I don't like MCR and Fallout Boy.
This is all just, weird. They serious, like Wow. I've got gothic tendancies but i'm just glad i'm old enough to not care anymore even if it was a lore in the UK. I would love to see them try it on me, bring it on.

I don't understand what you're saying. That's all it originally was - a genre of music. Whenever it started to die out, people started to refer to bands like MCR, Fallout Boy, Bullet for my Valentine and the fashion that went with it as "emo".

I guess emo is just a word. MCR wear make-up and have the fringe and sing about how much they hate life, so they got labelled emo. I don't think they're really pop-punk, like I said.

Hey, Maralyn Manson said he was embarrassed that they had gone and taken his style of singing about how bad life was and ruined it.
Not a fan of either artist, BTW.

thats almost as bad as being racist or sexist. they may be different but who the **** are you to judge them. they dont bother you why bother them. its people like you who should be strung up by your toes and suffer a slow and painful death by hemmorage
Hypocrisy much? Shouldnt he be entitled to disliking emos if he wants to? wouldn't you just be stringing him up for his personal opinions?
Of course, lets bring Hitler back to life and just tell everyone, "HEY HES ENTITLED TO HATE JEWS AND HOMOSEXUALS! LET HIM KILL THEM IF HE LIKES!" There is a difference that you obviously do not see.
Went right over your head, didn't it
What would Joseph Stalin have to say about this!
I'll ask him.
Ok he told me 'Everyone imposes his own system as far as his army can reach.'
I got no idea if that's relevant to the situation, Joseph is one angry ghost.
Whoa whoa whoa everybody. Lets take a step back here for a second.
The term "emo" to me is a fashion statement which expresses a state of mind, not always, but from my experience yes.
The term "Jew" is either an ethnicity or religion or both together.
Some of you people are putting them in the same boat as a group of people who are or have been actively destroyed.
Sure Russia is being downright stupid with this weird ass law, but saying the almost total annihilation of a ethoreligious people to the restriction of a fad which might go away in a few years (like most fads, remember hollahoops or car fins?) is utterly ridiculous.
And yes I say fad. And I am totally leaving out any use of the word "depression" her. Depression is a serious illness, not some fad populated by kids who hate their parents for not 'understanding' them and therefore "hate life" and listen to sad music all day.
Yes the above sentence is a stereotype, but do I care? No.
