currently, a lot of what they're releasing is crap. They'll get these great artists like Arctic Monkeys, and the Fratellis who release great first albums, then release a second one that completely bombs..or they put someone like Amy Whinehouse out there who's cd sold (and is still selling) great due to her voice, then have her fall into more trouble than any of america's gangster rap artists.
I'll say if we compaired american, canadian, and british artists, you'd find just as many succesful, and groundbreaking artists from each..
And England gave me the Clash.
But Three Days Grace and USS arent from England. Theyre Canadian.
However, England has Dragonforce and theyre pretty cool.

I know, I saw that too, but passed it in fear of getting banned...it's just so subtly placed!
Nobody has dared to dispute my post saying that Michigan produces the best music. I stand by it.
Michigan rules.
I'd say all countries have great musicians. You can't talk about the States without mentioning Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble, just as you can't talk about Canada without talking about The Guess Who and Rush.metallica_fan42
And Three Day's Grace and USS.

What is this USS?
Canada has had some pretty rough exports, like Sum 41, Simple Plan, 3DaysGrace, etc. but we've also got Arcade Fire, Wolf Parade, Protest the Hero, Feist, Tokyo Police Club, Broken Social Scene, Matthew Good, Sam Roberts, Godspeed you! Black Emperor, Final Fantasy, etc.
COnsidering our population, we're pumping out a good ratio of great musicians. Not the best out of all the countries in the world, obviously, but good nonetheless.

For me, Rush beats out most bands. They are one of the best 3 piece band ever. They have arguably the best drummer to date, and Geddy and Alex are extremely talented as well.[QUOTE="Lockedge"][QUOTE="boshlonavish"][QUOTE="metallica_fan42"]I'd say all countries have great musicians. no. never.
not even close to anything ever.
it's either america for the most diverse, or germany/austria for the best of all time.
Here are some bands to listen to in that case to see some of the influences that Coldplay used. Echo and the Bunnymen, The Beatles, Travis, Radiohead, My Bloody Valentine, Arcade Fire....and most definitely U2 especially circa The Joshua Tree. Innovative...not.And to agree with Clembo, I've never heard anything like Viva la Vida nor their other albums before. Obviously they're not for everyone, but they pull of a unique ****and sound whilst creating songs people aren't going to forget

Aye. Probably the most memorable song on their new album is "Life In Technicolor". Coldplay DID make better music, with the help of Brian Eno, but...they're still far away from the level of quality their debut had.
USA: Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Charlie Parker, Dizzy Gillespie, Charles Mingus, Clifford Brown, Max Roach, Art Blakey, Lee Morgan, Wayne Shorter, Freddie Hubbard, Bill Evans, Eric Dolphy, Elvin Jones, Louis Armstrong, Duke Ellingston, Coleman Hawkins, Lester Young, Jimmy Smith, Thelonious Monk, Wes Montgomery, Bobby Hutcherson, Herbie Hancock, Ornette Coleman, Sonny Rollins...
England's jazz sucks compared to USA ;) If you said England's rock musicians are the best I'd probably agree with you, but USA completely owns England in genres like jazz, funk, soul, and even *gasp* hip-hop.
[QUOTE="bminns"]you couldn't be more wrong .. .we have buckcherry, blue october, the fray, three days grace, saliva, and seether :o......... way much better than the beatles, clapton, the cure, led zeppelin, pink floyd, etc. wow you're an idiot :P LJS9502_basicUh......have to say the second list...ie English list beats the first list in their sleep.
i was being sarcastic:P... all the bands i listed are the worst bands i've ever heard in my life...

I don't think I'd ever put Wolf Eyes in the same league as the Stooges. :P
They basically did the same thing. Please Log In to post.
