So. The U.S. District Court of Michigan has awarded victory to an evangelical church in Lansing, Michigan, after it filed suit against a group of self-proclaimed gay "anarchists," called Bash Back!, over their protest and disruption of a Sunday service.

Members of the gay group "infiltrated the church" and started shouting and kissing as well as throwing glitter (how cheesy).

The Judge ruled against Bash Back saying they areprohibited from disrupting a religious service anywhere in the United States, and they may not conduct a protest at or destroy any property "on the private grounds of any place of worship in the United States."

"This injunction is a stiff penalty: a $10,000 fine if they do this again anywhere in the country. So, it protects every Church in the country."

It's good that the Judge handed down this ruling, it would've been insane if he actually let them get away with it.

Considering this was in the Church, I don't see what's wrong with this ruling.

It was immature and offensive for them to act that way while people were at a religious service on private property.

Way to go judge. If those members of the homosexual community want an expansion of their right and liberties they should respect the other views and liberties of other groups who also deserve them. What goes around comes around.

Wow. Wonder if the media is going to try and do anything with this one way or another. As it stands, seems fairly straightforward.

When I read the title I expected some uncool ruling, but hearing the story makes me glad the judge made the call.

Seriously people. if you want to get your cause out in the open, don't act like an immature troll and disrespect private property and good people. That's what the WBC does. Do you want to be like the WBC?

The judge made the right decision and the gay group was being obnoxious, but I hope people don't start trashing or making generalizations against gay people in general in this thread.

Yeah I was going to mention that, but they're still no one to aspire to and have similar tactics (IE, annoying the **** out of people to push their stupid cause).

Not that being gay is a stupid cause, but causing disruption for anarchy is a stupid cause.

If it is on private property, then they shouldnt be doing that. Even on public property that would be pretty disruptive.

I think the WBC should be allowed to stand between the family and the grave site at funerals. It's not fair to them to have to stand hundreds of years away. It's hard to see from way back there.

they weren't fined 10 grand. they were fined about 250 per person I think. The 10 grand fine was if they attempt this again at any place of worship in the U.S.

Pretty much what I was thinking.

Its also pretty hypocritical if you ask me, and it is definitely not doing them any favors. I'm sure not sympathetic to that group in any way, and I'm all for gay rights too.

also does anyone else see a little double standard here. This is what the Bash Back group said on it's blog:

"A group stood up, declared themselves **** and began screaming loudly. Upon hearing the loud interruption, other affinity groups went into action. A team that had been hiding under the pews in the closed-off balcony dropped a banner and pulled back the curtains to reveal 'IT'S OKAY TO BE GAY BASH BACK!'. Another group threw over a thousand fliers to the entirety of the congregation. The fire alarm was pulled. Queers began making out in front of the pastor. And within a matter of minutes, everyone had evaded the guards and made their escapes."

You really can't take the actions of a splinter radical group and apply it to the whole community. That'd be like assuming the WBC=Christianity. But yes, it is a double standard and groups like that are ridiculous.

They were burned as sodomites for their actions (i.e. sodomy). People in the Middle Ages did not think of that in terms of "being gay (in fact the word gay back then meant happy, and in the 18th century referred to prostitutes, the term gay in relation to men attracted to men is quite recent) and "sexual orientation".

At what point did I ever mention Christianity.

I'm talking about anti-gay extremists, because he was talking about anti-gay extremists.

[QUOTE="whipassmt"]

also does anyone else see a little double standard here.

Double standard concerning what?

You do see the words that they used.

Lol. When I first read it, I thought that it was the news site referring to them as that, but then I saw that it said according to the Bash Back blog.
