I have, at a food court, since it was a pay after you eat system, I sometimes either forget or intentionally don't pay at all. :P

[QUOTE="br0kenrabbit"]This. I value the hard work put into my food. What if said food was terrible, would you ask them to make the dish again or don't pay at all?No. I'm a regular at places I typically eat at, I wouldn't do anything so juvenile, anyway.

Then I will not return for a second time. Only an idiot does that. Just because something doesnt acclimate to my palette doesn't give any less value to the work put into it. If they were really that bad, I doubt they'd be open for business still... so someone out there must like it or put up with it. All I had to do is put up with it once. Its called BUYER BEWARE.No. I'm a regular at places I typically eat at, I wouldn't do anything so juvenile, anyway.

Was is everybody acting like honest little saints ?
I've run out of restaurants before with out paying, I've gone mailboxing before, I've vandalized, stole and done drugs and all that stuff. I don't do it anymore because I've grown up from days when I was 14. The point I'm trying to make is that everyon is saying running out on the bill is so awful yet I'm sure every one on this site has done their fair share of bad things before.
My thoughts exactly! Was is everybody acting like honest little saints ?

lol! Oh gosh, just once--this was at Coney Island. We ordered a few things from the menu with intention to pay--but we made the mistake of not coming to an agreement beforehand on who was actually paying. It's a large group of us--about 15 people maybe I think, and nobody wanted to pay anything. So while were pointing fingers at each other, we also stalled for time by ordering more and more stuff off the menu like we were rich until we thought of how to get out of the situation.
We began walking out the door in small groups. We walked out in pairs of "3" to "5" people to get the cars. They questioned us once on the way out and we told them the people who hadn't left out yet was the ones paying. After we got the cars--we pulled up to the front and the last two people ran out and hoped in, and we took off.
It's wrong, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't have fun doing it at that moment. But unbelievably enough to me, I actually ended up being the one car out of 6 or 7 others that got pulled over about a mile down and me and my friend had to go back and pay for absolutely everything and apoligize in front of everyone who probably expected this type of behavior from us to begin with after we came in all loud. It was extremely embarrassing to say the least.

Because I've never skipped on the restaurant bill or shoplifted anything.
Hard to believe?

That wasn't the question. I don't go to places I can't afford and I don't like purposely having someone work for me without paying them back. Oh I've done a lot of bad things - but I have never skimped on a bill.It is hard to believe that people have never done a bad thing before.

I'm not trying to be cool. I'm just pointing out that we all do bad things. I might run out of restaurants...you might illgeally down load music. We all do stupid crap that we shouldn't do. I'm not trying to say that what I did as a teenager was right...I'm just saying that I did and I know many other out there have done the same stupid things as me.

Skimping on a bill is pretty low because someone took the time to make that meal, but what about the people who watch free movies on line and download music ? A lot of work goes into a movie and making an album.

There really isn't a difference between the two, just that skipping out on a bill at a restaurant is harder to do.jaredcsimpson
[QUOTE="nimatoad2000"]i did it at this horrible diner once, id only do it if the place desirved it.david_lckYes, its our right as customers to choose whether to pay if the food is not good, except the bailing out part of course! :P
No it isn't. If you eat their food, then they have taken a loss. Doesn't matter if you liked it or not. You have a right to request it be prepared differently while you are there, and you have the right not to come back if you don't like the place. You don't have a right to decide whether or not to pay when a service is provided to you. That's just stupid.
How'd you feel if you worked for someone and spent your own money in doing so, then he told you he didn't feel like paying you?
Never, I always pay. I would feel really terrible if I walked out without paying, I'm just not that kind of person... Even if I didn't enjoy the food :P
I'm not picky either, generally I just don't care enough anyways and I don't like giving anyone a hard time unless I was severely wronged.
no I always check BEFOREHAND if I have enough money to eat somewhere. Though I think once or twice a friend of mine had to lend me some money at the pub...but I knew the owners...they were willing to put it on my tab but I don't like any form of dept.

Don't know about you, but when a dish is not cooked properly or it tastes almost inedible, customers do have a right to choose not to pay unless they the chef can offer a replacement dish. Watch any of Gordon Ramsey's shows and see for yourself before undermining my post. :roll:Yeah - but it was an honest mistake. It was at Denny's at 2 in the morning and my friend & I each thought the other had paid.........Whoops.

Watch any of Gordon Ramsey's shows and see for yourself before undermining my post. :roll:I think you're talking about the show Love. He assembles teams of inexperienced cooks to conceptualize and cook a menu. Then his guests are allowed to choose whether or not they would like to pay.
I doubt that he does this with the customers at his other resteraunts.
Once I went to Red Lobster with the intentions of paying and realized, after we'd eaten, that I'd forgotten my wallet. It was rather embarrasing. I returned the following day and paid. Once you realize you have failed to pay, you should return to the establishment and remedy the situation. Simple forgetfulness is not an acceptable excuse.
On the other hand, if a place gives you something you didn't order (such as McDonalds giving you an extra serving of fries) that is their mistake. You can choose to notify them but at that point they are usually forced to toss it into the trash so you might as well keep it and eat it anyway. No sense in wasting food, especially when it's free.
I haven't done any of those things before, it's just you. And I doubt that even 25% of people are like that...Was is everybody acting like honest little saints ?
