So has anyone done Jury Duty before? Just something I thought of because my teacher had Jury Duty today.

I've been called up four times. I served on one jury on a domestic violence/aggrevated assault case. I don't have a problem with jury duty. It's a civic responsibility and a small price to pay for living in a free society.
I'm glad there's people like you to make up for the rest of us who will try to find any way of getting out of it. I've received the letter once but didn't have to go since I attend school out of state.I've been called up four times. I served on one jury on a domestic violence/aggrevated assault case. they would have to allow you to reschedule accommodate you somehow i'm sure.I've had jury duty once - extreme pain and I hated it....
I have a question - if you are a full time college student and they call you in for jury duty and pick you, do the college classes HAVE to let you make up assignments/exams? Or are you just screwed?

Yeah that would be pretty lame to miss an exam or important assignments just because some dude stole a car and you have to suffer for it... man I hate jury duty!!

I think college can get you out of having to serve....Yes I did. And while it was only civil....it made me realize how inadequate a jury is.LJS9502_basicThinking about all of the cases where there are one or two people on the jury disagree made me realize that. It's not the fact that the minority can change the outcome, but the fact that whether or not said minority happens to be on the jury is pretty much just dumb luck.
I got the letter but they decided my services weren't needed anymore. It would be kind of nice to have had the experience but it mostly would have been a pain.Ace6301Same for me.
If you're trying to get out of jury duty just say this:"Your Honor, I don't think I can be an impartial juror. The defendant looks like such a scumbag that I'm insulted that you consider me to be one of his peers."
not 18, so no, but if i get asked i want to find a genius and awesome excuse to get out of it. And as unfortunate as it is, the only things i can think of are pretending to be racist or homophobic or somethign along those lines. Or jsut wearing somethign ridiculous to the court date.
No, but I filled out the form last year and apparently they'll call can call me anytime to do so. I'll pretend to be a biased, racist SOB to get out of it.

You could get a exemption for being a student and not have to go at all.I laughed. I have no interest in doing it either. No, but I filled out the form last year and apparently they'll call can call me anytime to do so. I'll pretend to be a biased, racist SOB to get out of it.

everytime i get a notice for jury duty, i check online the night before to see if i have to show up.... if it says i do have to show up. I call and delay it a month... then repeat the process until I check the website and it says i dont need to show up.
I forget which comic it was that poked fun at the jury system because our juries consist of people that arent smart enough to figure how to get out of jury duty.
