I had a dream i was smashing this hot chick and i look away right. I look down and all of a sudden the girl is ugly as hell then some dude busts in the room like "what the hell u doin with my girl". I was like "nah nah man i wasn't doing this ugly girl i was having sex with this other chick". The dude is like "you callin my wife ugly"? I punch the dude and my arm is moving at like 1 mph. This clown grabs me and throws me out the window. Before i hit the ground the ground turned into the ocean and i went like 200 feet deep it seemed like. Straight into the ocean man and it was dark as hell. I got scared and woke up but i couldnt move and i was hullicinating and i could have sworn my mom was in the room in the doorway staring at me, but she said she didnt come in the room. Very weird.

Although I've heard of sleep paralysis, most of them happen during a actually scary dream. Nothing ridiculous like that

yes, and it was terrifying. I was having a dream, and I woke up. but my body didn't wake up with me, so I was moving my eyes around but I couldn't move my body, or even open my mouth to call someone. and I was still hearing my dream even though I wasn't dreaming anymore. it lasted a good five minutes too.

I get it maybe a good 3 or so times a year. Kind of unfortunate. Sometimes it's really bad..hallucinations, the worst is when I wake up face down and it feels like someone is perched on my back and I can feel someone breathing on my neck.

I don't remember anything like this. What exactly is sleep paralysis? You wake up and your mind is awake but not your body?

Yes. And your mind is still in its dream state so a lot of people hallucinate and see lots of crazy things. Real scary when you see something scary and you cant move. Especially when it last along time.

yeah, I was seeing flashes of my dream and hearing everything as if it was in the room with me, voices, cars screeching, things like that. what made it really scary was that I was about 15 at the time and never heard of sleep paralysis before. I had no idea what was happening when I woke up like that. I just remember panicking and trying to call out to my mom but couldn't.

oh and another time, I had the same thing happen but not as bad. I sorta half awoke, and hallucinated a creepy black shadow person that just ran up to the bed to my face, it was scary as hell.

that wasnt sleep paralysis

in a half awaken state, our minds can become open to things we cant normally process. what you saw was not imagined. many things linger in the twilight. the challenge is trying to see them. just know that even though you can't see them, they can see you. they're watching, always watching

good night everyone. sleep tight!

When you're in REM sleep your body is paralized, pretty much so your body doesn't act out what you're dreaming. Once in a while for whatever reason you'll wake up from REM sleep yet the sleep paralysis won't be lifted immediately.

thats just scratching the surface

the next time you're having trouble sleeping, stick your hands out directly in front of you and close your eyes. at first, nothing may happen. this is normal. try this again and again, night after sleepless night

one night, you'll be greeted with a surprise. you'll feel pressure pressing down on your outstretched hands. the longer you try it, the more obvious it because

if you're Lucky, you might one night feel full fleshed hands gripping your own.

but whatever you do, dont open your eyes. no one knows what happens if you open your eyes

:| Man thats some scary stuff but i dont believe that its just all in the head.

The problem with sleep paralysis is that after you wake up you're still dissoriented and a bit in "dream mode". A lot of time the sensasion isn't simply that you can't move, but its that something is holding you down or is on top of you. So when you're imagination and senses are going roaming free and you're not thinking too rationally the idea that something is holding you down and you can't move can make your mind conjur up some very frightening thoughts.

I find a lot of time even If I don't see any anything, I still "feel" a presence of something that is in the room. which is usually the most frightening senses of them all.

You mean like when someone tells you to put your hand out and they put a pretend bucket full of water on your hand. I think that's only when your trying to be hypnotised or something. Still sounds the same. I'll try it though. But does it only work if I don't fall asleep?

To be honest, i have only a few fears in my life-- but those few fears absolutly terrify me.

Perhaps it is because i'm a state swimmer, but i am terrified of suffocating. The other fear is hallucinations. The fact that what i'm seeing and experiencing is not real yet i may act upon it as if it was scares the S*** out of me.

The fact that sleep paralysis can cause hallucinations freakins me out and, to be quite honest, makes me slightly more terrified of dreaming. The important part of all this is that i think i have experienced sleep paralysis, but luckily without the terrible hallucinations:

I once awoke during a dream that (i can't quite remember) probably had something to do with falling into the ocean, and i couldn't move. I freaked. I just couldn't move or really do anything for that matter-- and i was worried that all of a sudden i had suffered a stroke or some other kind of critical failure-- the feeling was much akin to something heavy "holding down" my limbs, much like the centrifugal force of a carnival ride. To my relief it passed in about 30 seconds, after which i began yelling ot all hell for my dog and my parents.

I had almost forgoten about it till i read this thread-- and now comes the point: was that sleep paralysis? and if so do i now have a lessened chance of experienceing it (if you only experience it twice, odds are it will happen later or not at all).

Oh, and btw, to one of the above posters detailing your many encounters with hallucinations; i feel sorry for you, glad you can still sleep at night :P

[QUOTE="Pearl_of_Egypt"]oh and another time, I had the same thing happen but not as bad. I sorta half awoke, and hallucinated a creepy black shadow person that just ran up to the bed to my face, it was scary as hell._BlueDuck_

that wasnt sleep paralysis

in a half awaken state, our minds can become open to things we cant normally process. what you saw was not imagined. many things linger in the twilight. the challenge is trying to see them. just know that even though you can't see them, they can see you. they're watching, always watching

good night everyone. sleep tight!

Omg yes!! Thats the worst thing about it is that i feel another presence in the room. Man im glad other people feel the same way i do and have gone through it. Im not alone.

you're mean

thats just scratching the surface

the next time you're having trouble sleeping, stick your hands out directly in front of you and close your eyes. at first, nothing may happen. this is normal. try this again and again, night after sleepless night

one night, you'll be greeted with a surprise. you'll feel pressure pressing down on your outstretched hands. the longer you try it, the more obvious it because

if you're Lucky, you might one night feel full fleshed hands gripping your own.

but whatever you do, dont open your eyes. no one knows what happens if you open your eyes

You mean like when someone tells you to put your hand out and they put a pretend bucket full of water on your hand. I think that's only when your trying to be hypnotised or something. Still sounds the same. I'll try it though. But does it only work if I don't fall asleep?

your hands cant stay outstretched if your asleep...so no

you must be awake

Once I woke up, and although I could move, I couldn't breath. Another time, I woke up, but I couldn't move. But it turns out that this was because I was at a camp at the time, and we had done a poor job of setting up our tarp, so I was sleeping under a 100 lb puddle...

Then of course there's the fact that if you dream that you're falling, you seem to be hovering an inch above your bed when you wake up.

I've had it happen to me a few times, but the first time was the absolute scariest. I was scared cause I couldn't move of course, but my heart was also pounding because it felt like there was an evil presence in the room with me. I remember I was on my back with my eyes closed, and I knew that evil presence was looking right at me. I was telling myself not to open my eyes, but I did anyway, and I saw a an old mans face hovering right over my face. I could tell he had a beard, and I was able to see right through him, so I thought it was a ghost.

The next time it happened was about a week after the first, and I felt like something was in the room again, but i never saw anything. And just recently it happened. Again I felt like something was in the room, but kept my eyes closed this time, but I heard something right in front of me. At first, I thought it was my dogs because the noise sounded like when a dog sniffs something. So I was thinking my dogs were sniffing my face, but then I remembered my door to my room was closed and locked, and realized it couldn't possibly be my dogs which scared the mess out of me.

I have taken a ****called Science and Psedoscience, and you actually study about aliens. And my professor was an alien fanatic and told us that sleep paralysis could mean that you could have possibly been aducted by aliens? Hopefully that's not what happened to me.

I mean do I need to stay up all night being scared. I know that I can't magically control my arms while i'm sleeping.
