Not exactly, but in my Business Communication cIass there's this guy (he says he was a WW2 vet) who whenever he gets called on for an answer (multiple times a cIass) he goes into long stories about his life or goes on tangents that have nothing to do with what we were talking about. It gets really awkward when he's been talking for like 10 minutes straight and it's obvious the teacher is trying to interrupt him to get the cIass moving.

Nope. I've been in classes where a student has inturupted because the teacher is wrong and some where people inturupt for clarification but not when the teacher is right.

Yes but my professors are quick to humble the individual if needed. As such, their annoyance does not last long.

Whats funny is, I have done that exact thing a few times... the only difference being I was right and the teacher(s) was wrong... once in high school and once my freshman year of college...

LOL yes. In history this one kid would constantly try to debate the teacher and all of us would be like shut up man, because he would just be getting destroyed constantly.

Yes, the boy tries to sound smart, when its obvious he knows nothing about what we are talking about. The teacher usually says something funny in the middle of what the kid is saying and then he ignores him.

It happened moreso in community college, because I'd say about half of the students there weren't too bright. Less in university, and it stopped altogether by my Junior year.

It's annoying when the student is not really well prepared to do a verbal battle with the teacher. Other than that, I find it quite exciting.

I do it a few times. Last year I was aruguing with my social studies teacher about how much tax you pay in Norway. I claimed 40%, he lied and tried to pass me off as wrong and said that he paid 28%.

Thankfully in Norway we have something called "the taxlist" which is a list that reveals anyones salary, how much they pay in tax and what their fortune is.

Got home, searched his name and found out he paid 38.5% tax... Boy did I have a go at him the next day

I agree. It's just when some people challenge the class itself. Like, go take a test to get the credits for the class, if that's case.

not that I can recall, prolly happened at some point in highschool though.

I do remember in my speech class we were looking at campaign advertisments because we were attempting to break down what kind of speech was in the advertisement. Meanwhile this one dude never understood that and kept trying to talk about politics and how the other side was just as bad. It was annoying.

Not really. I have a teacher this semester that keeps positing subjective claims as facts so if I wanted to be that person I could, but I realize that if I did we'd probably still be on the first chapter. I just take solace in the fact that during the few occasions when she does solicit opinions from the class it's like watching a comic die onstage. I'm not sure if this is because other students are apathetic or because, like me, they realize that arguing with such a self-righteous person in an authority position is pretty pointless, but either way it's entertaining.

I wouldn't blame the student, though, if a teacher doesn't want that to happen then perhaps they should make more objective claims. Of course for all I know, the student you're talking about is the one making the unsusbtantiated claims, but I'll just say that it's relatively easy for a teacher to make a student look like they don't know what they're talking about by merit of their position, that doesn't necessarily mean the student doesn't know what he's talking about.

No. However, I've had that one guy who's constantly interrupting the teacher so (s)he can repeat what (s)he just said, and (usually the same guy) the one who takes some meaningless detail from the lecture and makes a lecture of his own to expound upon that meaningless detail for five whole minutes until the teacher has to hold up a hand and say "We're getting WAY off topic."

It's ok to a degree. I know of some who asked a question every 2-3 minutes, which really dragged out the lecture. If the questions were really interesting, it would be good, but the questions were very basic and 'common sense'.

OMG yes, there was this obnoxious girl in my Abnormal Psychology class last semester who kept trying to make the professor look stupid. She'd challenge the professor with multiple questions during every class and it was so obnoxious. She never once made the professor look stupid because in that case the professor was very comptetent and thorough, so I don't know why that student even bothered.

One time there was a middle aged lady sitting in the front row and she started to comment on what was being said in a very hostile way.

The cIass was Developmental Psychology and she was criticising Psychology in general. She was saying that Psychology neglects the individual, and that some of its methodology is detrimental, or the way she seemed to put it, unfair or whatever.

Now, mentioning what she said doesnt sound very stupid but she sounded like a person who is out to unveil a huge conspiracy.

Things that are annoying in cIass is when students end the professor's sentences when they might stall a bit. They act as if they are their already their assistants. Or when students nod their head continuously when a professor says something. Of course I do it too a bit in cases where I asked something and the professor responds to me, but that continuous nodding of the head some people do is annoying.

Another annoying thing is when the professor doesnt correct something a student says even though its completely extravagant, simply because its way too extravagant and a facepalm would be more suited. But that only happened in philosophy cIasses. Bleh.

yes, this one large dude in one of the JC courses I was taking awhile back kept bugging the teacher about every little minor point. I found out he'd been doing it to all his teachers and eventually they kicked him out of the school.

I hate it when students do that, even if the teacher is wrong. As long as it isn't glaringly wrong information, like they are getting serious historical facts wrong or something, there really isn't a need to and it is just a waste of time and my money.

I used to see this all the time in high school and it constantly bothered me. It wastes time and just makes me think of that person as more of a smartass than before. Especially if they decide to go and play dumb with it: "Oh, but I really COULDN'T tell what they meant", when it's literally one minuscule detail that you'd have to braindead to not be able to figure out.

2. I'm a troll in real-life.
