Someone needed a certain amount of money until noon the next day. I said no because i dont have the money and i know the person but dont know them that well. So has someone ever asked u for money and did u give it to them?

Yeah, my "buddy" needed to get bailed out of jail and he never paid me back. Then we went AWOL and I never saw him ever again. Last time I ever lent anybody money.
yeah my mom has asked to borrow cash before and i would give it to her and she'd always pay me back shortly so i never worried about it.
I've let people borrow money and I'll do it again. Having said that, I know to NEVER let people borrow money that I need, and to NEVER expect to get the money back if I ever let someone borrow it. If someone comes up to me and asks me for money, I might lend it to them. But NEVER if I can't afford to lend it to them, and NEVER if I'm counting on having that money at any point in the future. If anything, it's just a test of character, and by loaning them the money I'm deliberately trying to ascertain how much/little concern they have for MY needs. If I loan a friend $20 and he never pays it back, then at least I just found out what he thinks of me. That hurts, but that's the kind of thing that's good to know.Someone needed a certain amount of money until noon the next day. I lent a coworker a fairly sizable amount of money. He said he needed it for a family emergency which was the only reason I did it. I was supposed to be paid back within a few months...it has been a year and a half. He ignores me at work and I choose not to just bring it out for everyone to know his business. It has unfortunately come to the point where I will end up taking him to small claims court. I learned a valuable lesson about lending money....don't!Huffanddoback
Niceeeee! xD I dont know what kind of punishment he can get, but I hope he gets the worst (be it community service, some fine, or even jail). Its fun to be in these kind of situations.
Paid 50 euro for a chick so she could go to a party with the rest of our class('twas a lot of expensive alcohol, hence the large submission entry), and am still trying to get it back.

You got tooken advantage of there. If it's something like this, they consider it a treat more then a loan.

, it's small claims court. The most that will happen is that he will have to pay back the money he owes by court order. My father once gave me some good advice which I always followed. If you loan someone something - money, clothes, etc. have them sign a note - not because you don't trust them but because, if they get hit by a bus, ;) how you going to get the loan back?
Usually if it's a small thing, I don't bother. But if it's a big thing, I always ask them to sign "just in case". :D
Yes. I'm either too kind or too gullible that I end up losing money because they don't pay!
I'm changing my ways though. No more nice guy lender.
Never, this guy asked me if I had 50 pence for weed. I said I had no money on me but I totally did I had £1.50
Quite a few times, but most of the time it's other people lending me money, I'm a man of my word though
:P
How does she blow you off without you wanting to make a scene of it?Paid 50 euro for a chick so she could go to a party with the rest of our class('twas a lot of expensive alcohol, hence the large submission entry), and am still trying to get it back.

[QUOTE="rawsavon"][QUOTE="Hexagon_777"]Have your family/friends lowered your standards that much?Hexagon_777lowered standards??? I think you are looking at my POV wrong. Money is not that important to me in this regard: If I like you enough to 'loan' you money, then I like you enough to where I don't mind giving you money. ...a loan means they needed it. ...a loan means I was in position to give. So that is what I do (gift). Most things even out in the endYou saying that it limits issues with these people seems to indicate that there was once a time where you expected to be paid back and people just screwed you over, however, wouldn't you agree? Nope, not personally. BUT 1. Seen it happen. Best to learn from others' mistakes (versus learning it for yourself) 2. Money is not that big of a deal to me -I don't like very many people, but I am fiercely loyal to those I do = don't think twice about giving to them and don't expect anything in return It has always been this way for me though. All my friends and I took turns buying meals, booze, etc...we never 'split the bill' No one had to ever say they were getting the next meal...people just took their turn. It was just 'understood'
[QUOTE="Hexagon_777"]]Lucky of you to find such understanding people.rawsavonFrom the sound of it (your story above), I am just better at picking compatible people than you...or (if you prefer/believe in fate or happenstance) I have been more lucky than you.Don't get me wrong, they are good people, they just have flaws...Like the best of us do.
