too often. I lend my roomie 20 here and there. One friend borrowed 400, he still owes me 70. One friend owes me 280, which I'm sure I'll never see again.

I used to lend a few kids money when I was younger. It was only a few dollars, but I don't think anyone has every paid me back.

Often when I was young. And still never got payed back for it. If I was to collect the money from all who borrow money from me, I'd be $1000+ richer. And that's not exaggerating...tocool340

My condolences to the above two. That sounds like some special *******. I myself got paid back the 685 or so dollars that I was owed. :P

My grandpa used to say, "as long as someone owes you money, you'll never be broke." =P

I only lend if I know I will get it back unless it's like a couple of £ or whatever.

I was too nice. I only lived off my birthday money and $1 weekly allowance when I was younger. And since I was the only person in the house really saving my money, everyone kept borrowing from me. Family members and "friends" always had their hand out but never gave me anything back.

Strange, its like I can actually remember the exact total each individual person owns me, but if I try to bring it up, they probably will plea amnesia...

I kinda just give it away because money doesn't mean much to me.

If it was like 200 dollars, than ya... I'd want it back. Few dollars, nah.

Just parents, I'm kind of weary of lending to people, I hear so many horror stories.

Ya, nothing substantial though. The way I see it is you need to be okay with never seeing the money again if you are going to lend it to a friend.

I have loaned my sister money on a couple of occasions (she has done the same for me) but I always know she will pay me back, so it isn't a big deal.

I did loan a friend money once a few years ago, and I never saw the money again. It wasn't that much, though. And I loaned my roommate money for rent, though when I say "loaned" I never actually expected to get paid back, but surprisingly I've already gotten half of it returned.

I'm usually not in a position to loan people money.
