I have Comcast - and supposedly there is a limit up to 250GB per month Download limit. Not sure if that has actually been implimented yet? But if it has, I certainly havn't come close to utilizing that much in a single month.
Have any of you? Ever used the entire limit?
Im sure this was induced to help cut down on the Pirates out there - but I had heard a lot of folk complaning about this when the ideal initially came up.
Any of you have any problems with capped amount of Download ?

I had a 20 GB/mo limit and I went over a few times. Now I have 60GB/mo and I've gotten close, but not over.

The Comcast cap has been implemented. If you check your account settings Online somewhere it has a meter that tells you how much bandwidth you've used for the month.

I just use dd-wrt firmware with my router and measure my usage that way. I have one housemate and combined we only use about 75-100GB per month, roughly about 80% of which is down and the other 20% being up.

Edit: Now that I think about it though, I do spend a lot of time on campus so if I were to use just my home Internet connection it might be another 10-30 GB on top of that.

For the last year, I had Rogers Cable for internet (in Canada), and my limit in was 60 GB/month, which I have met many times and exceeded once or twice. But since internet was already included in my monthly rent, I didn't pay a cent extra :)

I did when our family was with Cogeco we switched to TekSavvy almost a week or two after. They charged a ridiculous amount then throttled out speed on top of the fine.

I have satellite internet and even with the largest package the maximum monthly data cap is 17gb. Needless to say, we've busted quite a few times. When that happens, we pretty much have to unplug our internet and wait 1-2 weeks for things to return to normal.

Many times! The usage charges are a pain in the butt. Switched my services over to another company who offers a better product not too long ago, and its fiber optic internet.. 155 gigs, pretty sure I won't surpass that.

And I get a 60GB limit with my Rogers service in Canada, which I regularly exceed.

Ooh, first post of mine in many months.

If online gaming, watching movies, downloads, etc all count, then either I've got an utterly absurd limit that no one could ever possibly reach, or no limit.

I'm sure it counts for me, cause I hardly download anything at all. Just GS Forums + Facebook + Online Gaming is what I use my net for.

Yeah if you're a Comcast user you can log in at Comcast.com and check your usage. Here's mine:

The place I'm moving to in a few days only has Knology, I hope their service is as reliable as Comcast, but I hear they have no cap. Not that I'd be anywhere near it anyway.

I have 250GB but Comcast usually won't call users out if they go over every once and awhile but will start to look at "residential" users exceeding limits to small businesses and either get them to upgrade their plans or warn them of what is going on.

I have done a ton of bittorrent in the past with Comcast and never have gone over the 250GB, you would have to download like 150 Hi-Def movies a month to cap the limit which is a lot of movies. So people with excessive gaming hours are probably okay since the packet size should be a lot smaller then what a 1080p movie will bring down.
