As said before, even if all organisms are here to reproduce, that does not give life itself a purpose.

No, but a cause to live.

Purpose is too subjective.

Thats expected to think like that. You need to think smaller. Few people change the world, but I'm sure your family and friend would notice if you died, even if the rest of the world didn't.

There is little cause to live without a purpose...being here to breed may only continue what is not significant.

Recently, Ive been thinking about it.....the fact that no matter how well I do in life, all the things I see or do or acheive, it wont matter, because one day Ill die and it'll be like I never existed and everything I ever did wont even matter.....gets me down sometimes....zepman71
I don't care about my acheivement. Today is Sunday. I've been comfortably reading a book a lot of today. I've been eating a lot, good food too. And today I am happy. I'll die eventually, but this day will always have existed so it's silly to say 'but what if I don't change the world?!' or 'but am die zun!'

I've been contemplating the point of my life for years now. It all boils down to the same answer everytime, no matter how long I think about it or how long it's been dwelling as a though in the back of my head. It's all relative to perspective and what you make it to be, and in the end, it all amounts to what you wanted it to be.

If you don't give a **** about whether or not you will make a difference in this world or if you care about the people you leave behind, it wouldn't matter if your heart exploded right now. But if you truely value what little time you have left, you probably want to have a statue in your honor once you're dead. But either way, it really doesn't matter if you look at things from an absolute perspective that applies to everything in the universe, because we really are nothing but a drop in an endless sea.

That's why I find solace in mortality, because I know that nothing I do that is right or wrong in my mind will matter, there will be no bad memories to stain my life when I'm dead. I don't want to be trapped on this planet forever, so I embrace the idea of an expiration date. But that doesn't mean I'm going to kill myself, it just means that I'll take few things in life very seriously.

Nearly all have asked themselves what the point of life is. I have so many times. Even my older brother. In fact, my brother tried to look for the meaning of life. Even going through every religion. Finally he picked up the bible and told himself, "If this doesn't tell me the truth, I'll kill myself." Guess what, he found truth in it. He repented (asked God for forgiveness and turned the other way) and received Jesus Christ as his saviour. Then he was saved by grace (which means undeserved favor).

God said that if you're guilty of one sin, you're guilty of them all. We are all guilty and deserve hell. However, God said there is a way out of that, by accepting Jesus Christ into your life. So, there is a point in life, and that is to be God's child.

Or rather, how pretentious and self-righteous people can be. Stuff like that gives me the incentive to just stop wasting my browser on these boards.

Yeah, I think good portion of folks do, hints the reason why so many are afraid of dying and hints the reason why some people choose to follow relgion, even if do not believe in it.

Also, hints the reason why depression strong element within modern society.

Personally, I am not sure what kind of advise to give you. I am still strugling with the same idea as you. I mean, I suppose should be obvious that the answer to the question is to find purpose in how you, I or anyone else personally define it, however, how you, I or anyone else finds that purpose, goes without saying, is whole another story.

Oh boo ****ing hoo.

Go chat with the local crackhead whore one one of your not-busy afternoons. Get to chatting with her about how your life is, then listen to her tell you about her life.

It's true, you're gonna both end up just as dead. The difference (and this is a HUGE difference) is that you don't hate living as a result of getting (literally) beaten and screwed on a daily basis just so you can afford a quick hit.

[QUOTE="newhenpal"]

doesn't it bother you that everyday you wake up feeling like **** 6:00 in the morning doing preparing for work/school, doing the same thing you did last time, always bored, and then you go back home to do more work and get ready to do the same tedious routine for the rest of your life, Why? so that you can support yourself and be able to do the same routine all weekends feel short, it just goes on....and on....an endless loop of hopelessness....

From that perspective life doesn't seems overrated ;)

schox5

That depressed me... But it's all true.

It is if you don't find any satisfaction in work or school... let that be a reminder to choose your career well.

Sure, if you decide that you don't want to do anything with your life, it is despressing. But if you take some chances and do something important, your live and achievments absolutely affect other people. Become an astronaut, a scientist, an engineer. Just do something different.

yeeeap.  Though I fail to see how nothing matters simply because you eventually die...  Would living forever make things matter more?

That should be incentive to actually go out and do something to be remembered (something positive, NOT a mass murder).
