Well... You're leader hates America and is making you and your people out as terrorists, even though you say that you and your fellow citizens are not, so... If I were in your position, I'd say it's time for viva la revolution, right? :)

I hear it's one AK-47 per home in Iran. I know you're not a terrorist, but do you really want that title superimposed over you? It's time to take action, pal. Especially if they're forcing unwelcome rules upon you.

Ahmedinijad was democratically elected... And he has high approval rates... Definetly higher than his American counterpart's. Therefore, my friend, I'd say you are a minority...

But unfortunatly your government has more power than you or your fellow citizens.And they have the say on whether on not to push the button.

Brother, I do have a question for you, if you could answer this without any political bias on your part. Are you and the other Iranians mad at your president because he is angering the United States, or are you mad at your president because of the actions he is taking? In other words, are you mad at him because you are scared of the United States?

You're lying. They've had a 2 hour program on the Discovery Channel entitles "Koppel on Discovery: Iran" explaining all the tension and history of anti American sentiment over there. Turns out most people shout "death to America" regularly and they're teaching their kids in school false facts about America so they grow up hating it. What a country that is.

You mean kind of how our own media portrays all Iranians as terrorists, and the fact that we have a bunch of people in this country who talk about "nuking all those bastards".

let's be honest and thoughtful (in all seriousness); when you say a bunch of people, that's pretty disingenuous.  and as a muslim, you want the truth to prevail.   if by a bunch you mean  many people than you are correct, but saying a bunch often implies a decent percentage.  americans typically do not support doing something such as bombing the bastards...as the polls suggest.

Everything you need to know about Iran is in the Flock of Seaguls song: Iran

I walked along the avenue.(Iran has streets)
I never thought I'd meet a girl like you;
Meet a girl like you.(Iran has girls)
With auburn hair and tawny eyes;(those girls have hair and eyes)
The kind of eyes that hypnotize me through;
Hypnotize me through.(Iranian girls are hypnotists)

And Iran, Iran so far away.
I just ran, Iran all night and day.
I couldn't get away.

A cloud appears above your head;(Iran has clouds in the sky)
A beam of light comes shining down on you,
Shining down on you.(Iran has sunlight)
The cloud is moving nearer still.
Aurora borealis comes in view;
Aurora comes in view.(Iran experiences Aurora Borealis)

These girls are looking very eighties indeed(Iranian girls dress like they are from the 80's)
And Iran, Iran so far away.
I just ran, Iran all night and day.
I couldn't get away.

Reached out a hand to touch your face;(Iranian girls have faces)
You're slowly disappearing from my view;(Iranian girls dissapear)
Disappearing from my view.
Reached out a hand to try again;
I'm floating in a beam of light with you;
A beam of light with you.(i've got no clue)

And Iran, Iran so far away.
I just ran, Iran all night and day.
I couldn't get away.

You guys...

eo12601, Ahmedinijad was not democratically elected. Although he was elected by public vote, the people were only given a choice from candidates that had been screened and approved as appropriate by a 6-member religious council, appointed by Ayatollah Khamenei. He did not emerge from the people; one cannot "run" for president in Iran.

>And he has high approval rates...

I've never seen any polls, but none of the pople I met on my trip to Iran last month liked him. He was often described as a "monkey". One person estimated that 80% of the population does not support the government.

Squidward117: With regards to revolution, people are afraid to assemble in huge numbers - with good reason. There are informants everywhere. There was even an overseer at this young woman's graphic design graduation ceremony I went to whose job it was to ensure that no indecensies would take place. People who went to political meetings in the 80s have yet to return. The government staged the meetings and killed or imprisoned those who showed up.

camreeno360: >>>Turns out most people shout "death to America" regularly and they're teaching their kids in school false facts about America so they grow up hating it. What a country that is.

The people you see demonstrating in the streets are government employees (and in a country like Iran, there are a lot of those), who are required to turn up to such occasions or face the consequences. They are supplied with flags and the materials they need to make posters at their workplace. That's how you get these videos of 3 million people on the streets of Tehran chanting these things. It's Iranian propaganda, don't fall for it. They don't hate Americans.

In actual fact, the Iranians love to see foreigners visit their country. They are proud of their heritage, and are thrilled to show it to outsiders. While the foreign policy
track record of Europe and America
is criticised (with good reason), people are not so stupid that they can't separate foreign policy and foreigners. Americans and Europeans are positively exotic in the eyes of Iranians, although most of them are too shy or self-conscious about their English skills to come up and talk to foreigners (it still happened a lot, but not when you consider how many people were looking).

They are a friendly, fun, well-mannered and hospitable people. It was probably the most rewarding and exciting trip I ever made and I am definitely going back there.

^ Yeah, camreeno360, just like how we here in the states want to nuke the Middle East. What a country this is!

Gam0Ph0bia - you don't need to apologize on your leaders behalf. I'm sure that Ahmedinajad's anti-American sentiment isn't without reason. Anyway, we here in the U.S. have a leader that's far worse ;)
