I was like that a few years back and I'm still uncomfortable in areas like malls and such, being with friends and my girlfriend is what fixes it for me.
Define uncomfortable...anxious/nervous? If so, you probably have anxiety over something like other people's perception of you, or maybe you have a worry that you will do or say something embarassing?
Sounds like a really bad case, of poor self image. Try exercising like said above.ace-of-spades93Yup, even if there is little to no changes in your image you'll still feel better, trust me.
I had something like that, it was quite dreadful, to be honest. Part of it was I was rejecting my feelings and it was wearing me out.
It was a long anxiety current, it wasn't stopping, and I always felt like I was doing something wrong, and I couldn't get rid of it either.
I was always worried about making someone angry or getting into trouble or a conflict etc. I'm not sure if what you are going through is similar. It was a hard experience to describe, and I still can't explain it to people, they still don't understand.
I highly doubt this person has Asperger's syndrome, it is a form of autism.ASPERGER'S SYNDROME MUCH? Oh and asking advice on the internet won't earn you anything. ...scratch that. We do care about you. Post a thread on fourchan (/b/) and see what you'll get.

[QUOTE="Nude_Dude"]I highly doubt this person has Asperger's syndrome, it is a form of autism. Light one. Perelman's been rumoured to have one (check Gregor Perelman on google and you'll undestand he is but an autistic). To the OP: Do you like having grown hair and long fingernails 'cause you're too bored to groom yourself? (this ain't no joke - asperger's syndrome again)ASPERGER'S SYNDROME MUCH? i already stated that i work out "and for those asking me about self image, I workout everyday for an hour i weigh around 145ish and my max bench is around 200 lbs. There must be something that's causing you to be like this.
i really try but no matter what i do it in the end i feel the same and its sickening how i cant go through one day without feeling free or confortable.dragonmaster64Well, we can't really help you if you aren't even sure what might cause you to act the way you do. Are you shy around others? If so, that might be the reason.
Jumping to conclusions and telling someone that they have Asperger's Syndrome over an internet forum is NOT helpful in any shape or form. In fact, it's more helpful to tell them to go see a psychiatrist.Yes, because any other advice on the internet will work

I have severe panic attacks with my social anxiety, and medication should never be your first option in dealing with something like that. You will not get better for the long term if you can't overcome it on your own. If in addition to finding ways to cope and suppress your anxiety naturally you wish to have a fast-working type of "chill pill" as it's called, it should be used like an inhaler for asthmatics. You don't suck on that thing all day, you only use it if you're about to go over the edge and pass out. and for people who are thinking that improving physical appearance will make social anxiety go away, it will not. insecurity isn't the same thing as social phobias and panic attacks and I find that they don't go hand-in-hand as often as people would like to believe.Social Anxiety Disorder. See a therapist and they can give you medication so you don't feel like you are having a heart attack when you are around people.

I get that way sometimes, too. I don't really care for talking with strangers, and I seem to get off track a lot when I do. I also can't stand to be crowded. For instance, one time I went to a theater and got stuck between two of my bigger friends, and I lasted all of about 10 minutes and watched the rest of the movie from the hallway. I don't know how severe that would be considered.

agreed. i see a therapist to help with social panic attacks. medication is the last option. but it happens. no one should want to feel medicated. but sometimes it keeps you grounded for a little while.
but really. if its as bad as you say. seek professional help. not OT. and what the hell is with all the work out as advice.

I've been active and athletic all my life, work out 4-6 days every week, and I'm fine with my self-image; yet I still get uncomfortable around lots of people most of the time.So it's not just problems with self-image.
well, I used to be like that. I was like 5'5, 90 lbs. Now I'm 6' ft, 150 lbs, and pretty ripped. I used to do baseball, but when I started wrestling my self image got better. I went from skinny w/ lots of acne, to ripped w/ little acne. But now I get compliments on my body :D. So I would advise working out, it releases endorphines which will make you feel better to.
