If I "realise" that I'm looking at the person eyes during a conversation, I will usually look a way for a sec...I don't know why I do this, but no one ever noticed and its far from an issue.

I just happen to perceive that I do that...So, when I'm looking at someone direct in their eyes during a conversation what I'm actually seeing in my mind is the images that it is creating from the story/or whatever the person is telling me about. The moment that I "see" their eyes, I will turn away...reset....and look again

You must be psychic if you can tell what people are think.

That made me laugh.

I'm fine with necessary eye contact, but too much sucks. My teacher seems to love staring me in the eyes constantly, even when he's talking to the class. It's annoying as hell.dreDREb13
 That reminds me of an old college professor of mine who would only look at one student in the front of the class. This was a lecture hall with about 80 students.

I look people in the eyes. I'm pretty good at it. I had to train myself a bit to do it, but once I started, I realized how much easier it was to converse.

If the person is far away, keep eye contact. If they're directly in front of you, then stare for a little while and turn away once in a while. It also depends on familiarity with the person.

Strong hand shake and eye contact are both equaly important to me, and verry important at that. And several people older than me have complimented me for doing both.

I was always taught by my parents and other adults to always look at someone's eyes while talking to them...it shows that you are a confident person (so long as you aren't looking at them in a creepy way I suppose). This belief has since back fired on me however

-Story-

I got shafted over via eye contact a couple of days ago....Some insanely hot girl came up to me( I knew her on a talking basis...not really friends) ,while I was in line to get lunch at highschool, and start making small chat with me about halloween. While talking ,we were more or else locked into eye contact with eachother. During that time I hadn't realized she had slowly crept her way around me and in front of me. After about minute or two she said she had to go and walked further up the line. It took a second or so for it to kick in ,but I realized she had just cut in front of me to get to the front of the line and I hadn't noticed because I was trying to keep eye contact with her while talking.

/facepalm

damn you eye contact!

Well if you aren't able to keep eye contact it's a sign that you are either disrespectful or are afraid of something. It's stuff you notice when speaking to another person.

If someone doesn't make an eye contact on you while you are talking to that person, it usually means that this person is hiding something.

It's much nicer that the person looks you up in the eyes, not down on your chest...

I can make eye contact with people I know (friends, family etc) but I simply can't do it with strangers. If I'm walking past someone on the street and they try to make eye contact with me I freak out. Maybe I was molested my a stranger in a past life :o

I make eye contact with my teachers when they are talking to us. I think most of them aren't used to it, as they always seem to get nervous. I don't notice anyone else making eye contact with them, so it must just be me.

I find nothing more personal than eye contact. The eyes show life, they convey feeling more than any other aspect of being human.

I feel really uncomfortable making eye contact with someone for a long period of time. Even if I'm in a conversation, I can't keep eye contact for long.
