Family Guy or The Simpsons?

I had a teacher claim that the Simpsons is way better, becuase a lot of the jokes are geared toward adults and Family Guy is all "Potty Humor". At that time I hadn't really watched either one very much, now almost a year later, I have watched quite a bit of both and I must say that I think he is dead wrong. I don't doubt the Simpsons are allegories a lot, but their jokes are nowhere near as funny, and I don't consider all FG's jokes a potty humor, some are, maybe a few more that the Simpsons, but FAR from all.

Also I don't think the Simpsons ever wrap up their shows as well, they just end. And don't say FG is just a copy, because the best part of FG is Stewie who the Simpsons have no equivalent to.

I say FG, The Simpson's guys should've stuck with Futurama, which is a far better show. What order do you put them in?

The Simpsons went from being on tv here EVERYNIGHT, sometimes two or three episodes on regular tv.. now its only on once a week. Very strange. Id probably go with the Simpsons. I like Family guy but some parts can be pretty stupid and not that funny. If Futurama was in there, that would be my choice.

I say FG, The Simpson's guys should've stuck with Futurama, which is a far better show. What order do you put them in?

There's that reason, and then the fact that I think Family Guy is just way too "Random" - sure Simpsons episodes plots can be crazy, but they focus less on the "random reference" than Family Guy does.

I enjoy the older episodes of the simpsons myself. They were original and funny.

So yeah old simpsons beats family guy. But New simpsons loses to family guy.

The Simpsons. Futurama is ok. Family guy is a bit random and I coundn't get into it. Watch the 'Cartoon Wars' episodes of South Park and you'll know what I mean. Or just wiki the episodes.

Neither, South Park owns all.

South Park > Futurama > Simpsons > Family Guy (funny but completely retarded)

As for order, I'd say Family Guy, Futurama and last The Simpsons. Simpsons material is just getting weird.

Well, The Simpsons doesn't constantly resort to random references that have nothing at all to do with what is going on, much of the time referneces to actors I don't even know. The Simpsons also does not seem to often resort to the South Park-like tactic of doing things just for the sake of being shocking. The Simpsons has a rich world with many well established characters and long running in-jokes, if only because the show has been running for so damn long. I think that the biggest problem with Family Guy is that none of the characters themselves are especially interesting except for Stewie, with Peter being almost little more than a cruder and less endearing knock-off of Homer Simpson.

The Simpsons is the longest running sitcom ever, having long since surpassed Cheers' run. Incidentally, it is also one of the longest-running animated series' ever, the combination of those two things being no small feat.

So while Family Guy has its moments, I'm definitely going to have to say The Simpsons.

Also they tie in their comedy where alot of the time family guy will say something like 'this is worse than the time..'

I do love family guy tho .. Both are amazing shows
