No, bad parenting is ruining America.LukeAF24
Because parents who do all they can to raise their children and fail to not produce a delinquent are responsible for our decadence.

Fast food?.... call it what it really is... Junk food.

The main problem now is, is where junk food was eaten rarely (and more for an occasional treat) in the past, it is now replacing what people eat for every meal.

Junk food is called "Junk food" for a reason, it contains little nutritional value.

The fast food industry is running America. They would compromise your health to maximise their profit.

Frattracide

Yeah man, just the other day I was walking down the street minding my own business, when all of the sudden Ronald McDonald jumped out from behind a dumpster, twisted my arm behind my back, and started force feeding me big macs. Greedy clown. Its not my fault my health is so poor! MacDonald's is just greedy! They employ violent clowns to force feed people their junk food.

It's called advertising/marketing... and it's a very powerful thing.

No I agree. It's not my fault I make bad decisions. The government should strip me of my rights to free choice. I DEMAND TO BE TREATED LIKE A CHILD!!!

you sure act like one.

Yeah, I'm sure the unending rise in criminal activity and lack of education, extremely high number of broken families, and crap, even the media aren't as big issues.

Also I would like that I am a believer in free trade and the free market. No one is forcing anyone to eay garbage food.

It's a choice.

A person can easily drive to subway and eat a sub with 6 grams of fat or less. ;)

The small drink at McDonalds in the US is larger than the large size in France.

Have you been to both? I have and, despite not being able to compare the two at the same time, the French large is about as large as the American medium.

I don't see the problem... if the Government can stop ppl from smoking pot (which kills no one) then they should also stop ppl form eating too much (which kills hundreds of thousands and costs us billions of dollars)....

McDonalds actually has small fries, a small drink, and small burgers.

Go to a REAL restaurant (which no one cares about, and neither has to list the ingredients in the food and caloric information), and here's what you get when you order a burger...you get ONE size (huge), and it automatically comes with a crapload of fries.

Or let's put it this way...if McDonalds hired waiters, and then took twice as long to cook your food, would that make their food any better for you?

Well at proper restaurants they don't (always) use cattle jacked up on hormones, nor the worst remnants of the cow. They also grill them, rather than fry. So yes, healthier. French-fry wise, most portions I see are smaller than a medium at the arches.

No, but if they hired real cooks instead of high school students it sure as hell would.

Then you've obviously not been to many real restaurants.

If you want to complain about McDonalds being bad because they supersize their food, at least McDonalds gives you the OPTION of buying a small meal. Many "real" restaurants intentionally pile food onto your plate in massive quantities so that feel more justified in paying a higher price.

And if you think that the lettuce or the fries at a standard "real" restaurant are ANY different than the lettuce and fries anywhere else, I've got a bridge to sell you.

Never mind that you're implying that "real cooks" can't cook you a 24 oz steak, or a 1700 calorie pasta dish. Yes, real cooks do not use fattening ingredients or cook large portions.

No, I said, in restaurants (certainly in the UK) that burgers are grilled, not fried.

I think instead of having commercials that are like:

"do you wish you were just a tiny bit skinnier, although your not fat, everyone is beautiful, we love you...
Now try our diet!"

They need ones that are like:

"Fatty, dont you wish you could go to McDonalds right now and get fat off all the fat there? Too bad your to fat to fit in your Extended Cab SUV that didnt exist up untill you got to fat to fit in anything else. Although it doesnt matter, because your too fat for it anyway. Im sure you wish you could get a boyfriend, but even if your fat ass could, you would likely loose them amongst all your fat. Why dont you try to go hook up with a treadmill or something, im sure it wouldnt mind dating a fat person. You would probably break him though and then all the other treadmills would know not to date fat people because they are too fat. Im sure your probably thinking about going somewhere and getting a salad after all this, but you will soon realize that your fat voice is to nazily (sp?) to pronounce anything but "number 1" from McDonalds.
If this commercial is making you want to take a diet, than ive got a perfect idea. Dont eat you fat ass. Unless you want to get fatter on one of those fat diets thats all "eat lotsa food and loose lotsa weight!" If all the fat wasnt clogging your brain youd probably realize that you cant really loose weight by eating food. It just doesnt work. Then you got to a restraunt filled with people enjoying their meals meals, and complain that everyone is looking at you. Even if they arent glaring at you because you are excesively fat, its probably because you and your fat are the only thing they can even see.
I dont even see how you fat people get so fat. Its like, once you get to the point where you cant walk without some hydralic maching keeping you up, you should realize that your getting pretty fat. Fat people are gross."

Im pretty sure they would work alot better...

The small drink at McDonalds in the US is larger than the large size in France.

The difference is ppl don't go to restaurants to buy 8$ burgers everyday.... unlike the 1$ burgers from Mcdonalds, Burgerking ect...

Correction...POOR people don't go to restaurants to buy $8 burgers every day.

It sounds like your big problem is that fast food is actually cheap enough to be accessible to poor people. If that's the case, that's not something wrong with the FOOD. Particularly when most of these places offer ****ing salads for the people who eat there every day.

Fact: no one goes after the smaller companies, they only go after the big fish. McDonalds, Burger King, Wendy's, etc.

Fact: the big companies are the companies that are MOST likely to offer healthier options, as they are bigger targets and rely on a large number of customers. Meanwhile, smaller companies can get by on their niche market, and don't have to make themselves look good to the people who aren't gonna be eating there anyway.

People are giving McDonalds and BK crap about stuff that other restaurants (fast food AND "real" restaurants) do just as badly if not worse. They're not attacking the food, they're attacking the popularity of the food. As a result of pressure, McDonalds actually improved their menu a LOT, and they STILL take more crap than places like Hardee's, which specifically try to target the fatass market.

Seriously. Go to McDonalds and look at the menu. Now go to Hardee's and look at the menu. The reason that McDonalds is a bigger target than places like Hardee's is ONLY because fast food is a symbol of gluttony, and McDonalds will ALWAYS stand as the symbol of fast food. That's it. That's all it's about. It's not about the food at all.

Would like to point out that the obesity rate in the United States is a loaded figure.. It uses the highly flawed (and outdated) Body mass index scale to calculate overwieght and obese people.. The problem with this, is it directly involves hieght and wieght and that is it.. Meaning the majority of atheltes that are very heatlhy are at very least overwieght to NFL players such as linebackers, recievers etc etc are obese.

Hardee's, which specifically try to target the fatass market.

camreeno360

Have you seen Hardee's menu? Ever since the introduction and success of their huge "Six Dollar Burger", they redid their entire menu to cater to people who want to eat a LOT of unhealthy ****.

They've got the 1700 calorie "Monster Thickburger", which is 2/3 pounds of beef, three slices of cheese, 8 slices of bacon, and dripping with mayonnaise. They're always promoting some new feature menu item, which is always big as hell, or in some way "loaded" with **** (as in their Loaded Breakfast Burrito, which is ham, bacon, sausage, eggs, cheese, and filled with thick greasy southern white gravy).

Hardee's is ****ing nasty dude. Oh, I eat their stuff and love it. But anyone who has eaten ANYTHING from Hardee's in the last 3 years has absolutely no business complaining about McDonalds' menu. If you think that McDonalds is bad, and have never seen Hardee's menu, just go to a Hardee's. Take one look at what Hardees is selling, and then please dare to come back here and tell me that McDonalds is worse. I dare you. I triple dog dare you to try to tell me that McDonalds is worse than Hardees.

The thing is, Hardee's can actually get away with having that kind of menu because it's not McDonalds.

Their breakfast burrito just looks evil, man. I thought that white sauce was ranch dressing or something. If anyone can eat there, they must have a cast iron stomach.

Oh I actually don't get that chain here in California. They don't even have Sonic around here. In fact the first I've heard of Hardees when they did the "Across America in 80 seconds" on Fox News about how some new breakfast burrito from there made the world record in terms of calories. Though I doubt that's exacty what it said, but it said it had like 2000 calories, I don't remember.

I think in some areas they change the name. In Hawaii, it's called Carl's Jr. instead of Hardees.

Oh well they have Carl's Junior here...If that's the same thing. Yeah the commercials are hilarious, particularly the six-dollar-burger ones where at the end they always show the burger drop and all the stuffing like bounces up all nastily (you know what I'm talking about right?). I think it's reverse psychology how they do their commercials. It's like they straight up go "Our food looks nasty. That's what makes it so good" or something.

The Six Dollar Burger is actually pretty damn tasty. One of the top five burgers I've ever eaten at a fast food restaurant, and it beats the hell out of anything I've ever had at McD's, BK, Wendy's, or Sonic.

But I guarantee that it's not good for you.

I tried the Six Dollar Burger one time....I don't know if it's the way they cook it, or if it's the particular Carl's Jr I went to, but I would up being really sick about an hour after eating it. I've been too scared to try that fast food chain since.

Fast Food is all around the world, not just America.

james28893

The small drink at McDonalds in the US is larger than the large size in France.

LMFAO...did you just say that real restaurants don't serve fried food?

No, I said, in restaurants (certainly in the UK) that burgers are grilled, not fried.

And Wendy's grills its burgers and Burger King even BROILS their burgers. I know this from working at both restaraunts.

Really, the dangers of fast food are overrated. I did not gain any weight since I have worked at the restaraunts (been about 2 years now since I started my first job at BK) and I eat my lunchs there all time. You just have to switch things up and make sure you are getting some healthy food in at some point in the day.

The problem is peoples lack of self-control, not the fast food restaraunts.

On another note, that's a pretty crappy way to start out the day.

If you're gonna eat 2000 calories in one meal, you save that **** for dinner. That way you can fast all morning and afternoon, and you've still got something to look forward to at the end of the day.

But 2000 calories at BREAKFAST?

It's like, you wake up at 7 AM.

By 8:30, you're eating a 2000 calorie breakfast burrito.

Then you're like, "well, that took care of today's food. Now I don't get to eat anything else for the next 24 hours."

That might be fine if I was a ****ing SNAKE, but Jesus Christ, man. I'm a ****ing human being, and I like to eat. I don't like to get breakfast, lunch, and dinner done by 9 AM, then spend the rest of the ****ing day not being able to eat anything else. That's a truly crappy way to start out any day. That's like getting your paycheck, spending it all on a bunch of CDs and DVDs, and then living on crackers and spam for the next week or two because you are out of money.

The hell with that, man. That is no way for a human being to live.

When you put it in that perspective, my breakfast of 2 toasted bagels and a cup of hot tea seems halfway decent in comparison.

Correct. People always have a choice. Excuses are monuments of nothing which build bridges that lead to nowhere. Blaming McDonald's for being overweight is the epitomie of silliness.

Really? The same thing happened to me! Except it was the king (burger king) who got me... it was horrible. He just wouldn't stop.

People are ruining themselves with food. Fast food is usually good, it's really not that bad in moderation. But when you start going there every day and you don't exercise enough, you WILL gain weight and you might get obese, and there is nobody you can blame but yourself. You can talk about all the calories and oh mcdonalds has such great deals and I didn't know you could actually get tiny burgers but they didn't have salads when I got fat and blah blah blah.. at the end of the day, you did not take care of yourself.

Its not ruining America. People are ruining themselves. There are fast food restaurants in other countries but the reason they aren't obese is because they don't eat it everyday. Fast Food isn't bad if you eat it once a while.
