If you had asked three years ago I would've had an answer, but now I only listen to it when my friends put it on, which is very rarely. I suppose I'll say Alesana since some of their songs bring me back.

Also, to people who don't know the genre, here you go. I'm sure you'll all enjoy it very much.

I get confused by all the genre distinctions but my favorite post-rock group is explosions in the sky.

=) Only poking fun a bit at the genre name. I'm a metal fan so I'm used to the BILLIONS of different "genres" that are usually only slight changes in style. I mentioned ISIS a) because they're an amazing band that you should check out! and b) they're supposedly "Post-Rock". Meh.

They're metalcore according to wiki. Honestly, I have no idea how people like them. One of the most boring bands I've ever heard. To each his own, though. Don't want to insult your music taste.

Either Dance Gavin Dance or Senses Fail. Metalcore is much better IMO. Alot of metalcore bands are also considered post-hardcore though.

DOn;t mic up post rocjk and post hardcore, post rock is rock +wierdness/artisticness but post hardcore is harcore -the hardness in most cases. It overlaps with emo.

Post-hardcore does mean something, read a book on music people than come here and complain. As for my answers:

REFUSED

Helmet

Glassjaw

Fugazi

Bear vs. Shark

Rites of Spring

Cap'n Jazz

Drive Like Jehu

Noisy Sins of the Insect

The Jesus Lizard

Made Out of Babies, etc.

Not a problem, also I forgot to add At the Drive In, Converge (can't BELIEVE I forgot these guys, I guess if you'd consider them post-hardcore), and Dag Nasty.

I think converge are labeleld as "mathcore"? When i think of post hardcore i think of the more emo/screamo inspired hardcore that's cropped up in the last 10 years... Shame really, fugazi and stuff was good in the 90's. Post hardcore originally just meant taking harcore beyond the self inflicted boundries of lots of shouting and loud simple riffs. I suppose metalcore does a similar thing... But you know, it's metalcore... So just, no.

I agree. These subgenre names are created for the sole purpose of setting themselves apart from others. One good thing about them thoughis that they can be used if you're looking for a certain sound.

After visiting Wikipedia's page of post-harcore bands I guess I'll say A Skylit Drive and We Came As Romans. Bah, genres... I don't buy into them. Just listen to the music. I was gonna say Battle of Mice but apparently they're "post-metal"... >_>

Listen to early metalcore bands, they call it metallic hardcore. I'm talking stuff like Converge, Botch, Starkweather, Integrity, Rorschach, and Earth Crisis. As well as a lot of the revivalist bands like Pulling Teeth, Rise and Fall, The Dillinger Escape Plan, Ceremony etc. That stuffs all awesome.
