Canadians have an unfair advantage in this discussion. Americans were idiotic enough to outlaw alcohol and thus destroy thousands of years of brewing knowledge. After drinking radiator fluid for a few years, American's taste buds were destroyed.
It also severely gimped the number of breweries able to flourish afterwards...
As such...american beer is far inferior to canadian beer...
effthat
this is, without a doubt, one of the most idiotic things I have ever read pertaining to beer. The lack of evidence, the hyperbole, and the just plain ignorance of this statement is shocking.
1. How do you destroy thousands of years of brewing knowledge simply by prohibiting alcohol production and consumption for a few years?
2. Radiator fluid?
3. Gimped the nubmer of breweries? Do you have any idea how many craft- and micro-breweries there are in California, Oregon, and Colorado alone?
I am not going to retaliate and say Canadian beer sucks. That would be unfair; besides, Unibroue is one of my favorite breweries. But the US has some of the best breweries in the world. Period. More importantly, US brewers are more adventerous and willing to go outside of tradition to pursue a great beer.
To those not in the US: get over this idea that the US consists of nothing but Bud, Coors, and Miller. Just like the US does not get the best beers from the rest of the world, the rest of the world does not get the best beers from the US.
